Hey Folks i'm going back to Amsterdam on the 15th Dec, im looking for a good niteclub to go to or anywhere that plays good euro trance music for my birthday on the 17th Dec, im going to be 22 so anywhere that is gauranteed to bring it in in style, preferably somewhere i can have a smoke and is english speaking as unfortunatley i do not speak a word of dutch! Gary T., From what I have read, almost all Netherlanders speak English so you should be good to go to any of the clubs. Happy Birthday! You bring up an interesting point. I have traveled to several countries, and have always tried to learn at least a few phrases of their languages out of respect for my hosts. However, I have read that residents of The Netherlands are not so receptive of Americans who attempt to speak their native language. I'd love to hear from some of you Netherlanders as to your thoughts. Learn some Dutch phrases, or just stick to English?
from my experiences in a few countries, as long as you TRY, that´s all that matters. frankly, any bit of dutch would be appreciated. but i´ve also heard that, too, which goes against what i just said. so, i dunno. i would still learn at least a few phrases to start and end a conversation, because it will most likely be conducted in english anyways. to me, sticking strickly to english seems a little... like you´re not willing to adapt to someone else´s language/culture. and of course, when in doubt, just SMILE! one of the best universal pieces of language out there
head to a club called escape, it is on the rembrandplein, and on a saturday night they have a night called chemistry, it's trance/techno, i've been twice now and you can roll the fattest j's you like inside the club, not a problem!! have a good one!
