A nightmare on all sides. Yeah... I guess the main thing is money to begin with... It's hard to escape when you first need to make enough money to escape... ...and then leave everything you know to be true for the uncertain. But... money is the biggest issue. A goal is much more easily achieved once it is set and possible.
Macedonia has a 36% unemployment rate. Either people can't find work, which means the country sucks, or people don't want to work, which means the country REALLY sucks. Either way, I'd rather live in the land of McDonalds. Oh wait! Macedonia has had McDonalds since 1997! Oh yeah, and I have never heard of anyone from Macedonia complaining about the money the United States gives their government. How many millions of people are crossing the borders into Macedonia, in order to make a better life for themselves? And ya know, I've never heard of anyone from Macedonia boycotting all the things that were invented in the United States. Maybe they could start by throwing their computers away.
America is still humanity's best shoot at getting things done right. It is up to each of us as individuals and all of us collectively to make it right.
Macedonia is country in transition, and like every other country in transition we have employment problems. That's no strange thing. We got our independency only 15 years ago. There are 2 McDonaldses in a 2 milion population country. Find a capital in the world that doesn't have a McDonalds. That's just a part of the globalisation. Oh poor you. You really think that we should be grateful for the shitty help America gives us AFTER ALL THE WARS SHE CAUSED IN ORDER TO DESTROY THE THIRD WORLD POWER YUGOSLAVIA? Do you know anything about Bosnia, Kosovo, our "crisis" in 2001? Gues not. Even if you were folowing the news back then, i know what CNN said and what was really hapening just 2 milles away from me. The money America gives is nothing in comparison of what she desroyed. And btw she doesn't give the money for good will, she has a profit of it. Maby just little, but that's not the point at all. I'm repeting all the time that America maby gives you the greatest oporunities ever, but only few use them. here is an example: Mathematics and Science Achievement Is Critical Nearly a quarter century ago, the National Science Board's Commission on Precollege Education in Mathematics, Science and Technology[1] assessed the state of U.S. precollege education in the subject fields and found it wanting. In the intervening years, we have failed to raise the achievement of U.S. students commensurate with the goal articulated by that Commission—that U.S. precollege achievement should be "best in the world by 1995"—and many other countries have surpassed us.[2] Not only are they not first, but by the time they reach their senior year, even the most advanced U.S. students perform at or near the bottom on international assessments.[3] from:http://www.nsf.gov/statistics/nsb0602/ hahaha you made me laugh now computers invented in America? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer they just improved them a little bit, formed the company IBM and took all the credit hey, and i haven't heard of american companies complainig about all the intelegent well educated men from Macedonia who they hired and they are still hireing at least 100 a year
Countries without McDonald's locations Ask Yahoo! compared the United States Department of State's list of independent states to a list of franchises on the McDonald's website, and derived that the following countries don't have McDonald's locations.[6] Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Armenia Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Cuba Djibouti, Dominica East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana Haiti Iran, Iraq Jamaica Kenya, Kiribati, Kyrgyzstan Laos, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, The Federated States of Micronesia, Mongolia, Mozambique, Myanmar Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Niger, North Korea Palau, Papua New Guinea Rwanda Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Sudan, Swaziland, Syria, Tajikistan Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu Uganda, Uzbekistan Vanuatu, Vietnam, Vatican City Yemen Zambia, Zimbabwe
197 countries listed Macedonia is number 182 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_unemployment_rate Boy, I'm glad that I don't live in a country that Is In Transition.
It doesn't mater wheather there are 100 countrys without McD or if Macedonia is number 182 on the umimployment rate. We're talking about America here, and you're missing the whole point. If you want to talk about Macedonia we'll open a new thread. You don't have any idea what is like in Macedonia, because you don't have any relevant source that will give informatin, yes you can go on with the statistics, but that's not too hard to do for mee to. If i want America to look realy bad, i'll just find some charts of the murder rate, education rates, overweight rate.... PS If know anyone who's been to Skopje ask him if he ever wnated to go back to America. From all the foreners i know, noone wanted to get back to his country after wisiting Macedonia. And do you know why? Maby we don't have too much in out pockets, but we certanly know how to live and how to have fun! PPS Macedonia is one of the few countrys where you can walk down the streets in 3am and nothing bad will hapen to you.
Marija, I think you're making pretty good posts in general, but claiming that a country that's a couple of centuries old has no culture or history is just ridicilous, even if the mainstream history is twisted and inaccurate and the culture comes forth from other cultures. What kind of culture would you put moonshine and drive in liquor stores in? What culture did Tom Saywer and Huckleberry Finn came forth from? Blues and rock 'n roll? Donald Duck, Star Wars? You may dislike it, but it is pure american culture.
Well i’ve just read almost the whole of the discussion… Look…you really sound a bit crazy for me J ya just go on and on denying what is obvious…i told ya…America has its history History cant be bad or good It is Do ya know Russian one? It’s all about fucking Russian ppl Centuries of humiliating…slavery…no rights…we still have few…and cults…yes cults…and endless violence It’s ugly American culture is no better and no worse It just needs to be And as for culture….hm…i saw ppl trying persuading ya that it exists…and they failed So the matter is that ya don’t wanna see it…and so i’m not likely to persuade ya either Ok American one is a mixture So what Do ya know how many nations formed their cultures that way too? Every culture borrows smth Maybe ya need to study cultures closer to understand this… I don’t defend America, i actually dislike it But i prefer not to be blindly categoric and accept the truth And living in such a country as mine you’d learn to appreciate america’s willing to fight for rights… and they have success which ya cant deny either Do ya really need to hate America and its ppl? Hm… no good… If i were you i’d go to America to see everything with my own eyes and base my judgement on reality Good luck i don’t actually mean to be sharp
I think i was missunderstood, i can't deny history, everything is history, this moment is history coz it passed, and i said it myself that what american culture is suposed to be is a mixcure of most of the europian cultures, american hitsory and culture do exist (tehnicly), but my point is that they are overrated! Yes i know russian history, at least the basics, russina people have gone trough alot of rough time and they aren't makeing a big deal of it. America has fought few stypid wars (for taking over the land, and for some political domination behind other vivid reasons) and everyone is heroes there, that's funny. About the culutre my point is that they don't have nothing theirs, everything is taken from others, and now they're promoting this globalisation thin that will ruin lots of other cultures. That was my point in general. And if i continue to post here everyone will start hating me, so i decidet is beter to stop. (unless someone provoqes me)
I love American culture in general, can't wait to experience it once. And I don't mean McDonalds, tried that part out already.
they are, just as they are in the usa ..they're all corrupts. but what gives a corrupt the right to wage a war against another corrupt to uninstall that corrupt and to install in its place, their style of corruptness
true and good what you said bravesirrobin. i think that new york and those big cities are pretty spectacular and stuff. but actually its just a waste of electricity. Its distraction of the real life. its a waste of the world. those cities should keep that in their minds.
I'm risking to fall into the most confusing discussion, but I would just want to make a statement about American history... There was an episode of "Gilmore girls" where the town people every year make a recontruction of their most important historical event when a hooker seduced some general and won the battle by having sex with him..... And, for example, 7 kings since XIII century have been crowned in the monastery in my town, in the WWII over 10 000 children and women were killed here by Germans IN ONE SINGLE DAY etc etc....What I'm trying to say is that, even though America has a certain history, every single rock in other parts of the world (especially Europe) has much much more....
Neay, neay my country is better than your country. Good grief people. I love America, but I am biased, I grew up here. Government is getting more and more corrupt, so I vote, and encourage others to do so. Not just here, but all over the world. It is up to citizens to change the way governments act. Peace, Love, Run Naked.
Well perhaps once we've rousted the reality of representational democracy in favor for actual democracy(ie: Remove the politician factor), we'll at last reach the next "pique" of societal development for the many, many more to enjoy. I really don't want to see a Hilary-Obama electoral succession, and I really REALLY don't want to see it turn over in "Bloody Revolution". These are things to now avoid after so much has taught and openned itself up to us. Irritating the wound only makes it worse, so that leaves us at accept greater pains with greater capacity, or make a change and go with it. That's my take.
