AMD's Robert Hallock Dispels Zen 4 PCIe Gen4 Rumors, Talks Future of 'Zen Philosophy' The semiconducting industry steals each others data and leaks information like a fishnet does water, and this is a good example of how they position themselves to leak information that promotes their stock prices. Its actually carefully regulated in magazines like Forbes. Anyway, recently Intel has been bragging about how their next gen processors will stomp AMD, and how their upcoming processors will have 4 efficiency cores for running things like the desktop, and 8 or more high powered cores for crunching the numbers. This article confirms AMD isn't going in that direction, which likely means they are focused on a long term distributed architecture commitment. What it suggests is Intel will focus on high efficiency ultra lite high performance laptops, and AMD less expensive gaming models, that offer a better bang-for-your-buck. Unless Nvidia can get past the EU courts with its acquisition of an ARM cpu manufacturer, laptops are still dominated by these two. Already, its quite possible to use a cheap processor for gaming with a much more expensive graphics card, and AMD is bringing up the rear in technology, and making a killing undercutting Intel, but we'll have to wait and see what happens next.
