https://www.pcper.com/reviews/Processors/Ashes-Singularity-Gets-Ryzen-Performance-Update This is the excellent news many of us have been hoping to hear since AMD first released its ryzen cpu. It was quite puzzling when ryzen was first released that its performance benchmarks were so tremendous in other applications, yet, not so overwhelming in video games. This first patch of Ashes of the Singularity, which is the most demanding video game on the market today, indicates things will probably improve significantly within the next several months. Up to a 31% improvement over what was arguably already a decent cpu for gaming makes it all that much more attractive an option and the hexicore ryzen r5 chips that might interest the average PC gamer are going to be released on the 11th of April, so its good to get a better idea of what they are capable of ahead of time. Of course, many gamers and others would argue that its best to wait until the end of the year, if you can, when Intel will release its new 10nm cannonlake chips which should drive prices down even further and we can see how the two compare. So far, it looks like ryzen offers slightly slower single core speeds than intel i7 chips, but provides dramatically cheaper multicore processing. In gaming you only need four cores and AMD chips include other new features such as "free sync" that make video games play smoother and most people might be perfectly happy with a budget chip from either manufacturer, but if you want higher frame rates a four core Intel chip is still the way to go while, if you want to download things in the background or play video games online or do things like video editing, a hexicore from AMD is a better option. Like I said, this is the excellent news people have been waiting to hear because it means Intel now officially has serious competition which can only bring prices down for everyone.
