    Hi all

when amalgamating al with hgcl its always washed with three times dh2o but im reading quite a few where the washing of the al is skipped and the the whole reduction is done one pot style
    Which is the better way?
Is leaving the hgcl in just lazy or is there a benefit in yeild/purity
how safe is that method once basified will the hgcl beable to extract into toluene or will it stay in the mess leaving only the amine in the toluene
    thanks for your help

I apologize for the incorrect English.

For starters, do not use HgCL2, replace it with Hg (NO3) 2 He interacts worse in organic solvents.

Using toluene can not refuse to wash, in any case, will hg
Dissolve can be replaced by petroleum ether. With this solvent you can not wash amolgamm.

After extraction the amine, mercury remains completely in the solvent. When alkaline extraction.
