Almost Arrested...

myself, along with 4 others, had a get together at a friends house. so we got there and got settled down and started having some jack and cokes and some shots. so after watching family guy and shooting some pool, the 5 of us go up to my friends room to smoke. we had the windows open and some incense going. my friends room is on the second floor and faces the back road so we didn't have to worry about anyone seeing in. the blinds were also down. so after 3 or 4 bowls, and some loud talking, we go back downstairs to play pool. so we are all sitting around and around 10 pm, we see this light by the fence. no one knew what it was, and then it came back and was getting closer. we figured it was one of our friends messing with us. my friends back patio light goes on and its a cop. so we are all bugging out. we just smoked, our eyes are probably red. the best chance we had was that the 5 of us smoked some cigarettes so we hope'd we wouldn't smell. so we let the cop in and he asks what we are doing and what not. so we tell them we were hanging out and shooting some pool. so the cop tells us that he got called out because there was a report of kids smoking pot and drinking at the house. so he was like, you guys all look stoned, esp. you (pointing at me) so we were playing dumb and were like really? we weren't smoking. he asks if we are suppose to be there (there is an "house under contract" sign outside because he is selling his house) and we tell him that they own the house for a few more weeks. he asks where the parents are and my friend explains to him that he stays there on the weekends and his mom lives with her boyfriend.

so the cop asks for my friends id and mine. after taking all of our information (name, address, phone number, birthday), he asks the 3 girls for theirs. everyone there was over 19, except for this 17 year old. so after trying to get us to admit if we were smoking or drinking, he calls the 17 year olds mom. he asks her if she knew where her daughter was and if she wanted her to be brought home. the girls home is pretty chill so she didn't really care. so my girlfriend, the 2 other girls, and myself are sitting by the pool table trying to process whats going on. one minute we were playing pool, the next the cops are coming through the back door. they didn't knock or ring the bell, they went straight to the back yard. so we are sitting there and i'm bugging out because my zepplin is in my front pocket, and my girlfriends is in her pocket. so the cop comes back in with my friend and his back up arrives and comes in the room. so now there are 2 cops and the 5 of us in this patio. so he explains the situation to the other cop and asked him if he smelled any weed. the cop replies that he doesn't, and the other cop also says he doesn't smell anything. so after about what felt like a 5 minute pause, he goes "well you guys aren't intoxicated. you don't look drunk, you're not acting drunk, and i don't smell anything on you guys. i'm going to take your word for it that you guys aren't smoking. just be safe and have fun." then they both left. so we all go into the living room to watch tv and we were all like, what the fuck just happened? it was really random, but we got away with nothing. we are lucky they didn't search the house, we had some bottles in the fridge and a quarter upstairs in the room.

just thought i'd give you guys the story of lastnight. i guess this proves the fact that you can be high around cops and get away with it.

 

Why the fuck would you let the cops in? that was your first wrong move right there dude. unless they have a warrant, tell them to fuck off

 

It sounds as if they need goverment staffing cut-backs in your town.


The next time somebody talks about a tax increase, remember this experience.

 

NEVER let a cop into your house. They didn't have probable cause to enter. You should have just opened the door and slipped out to talk to them, they would never have a chance of smelling or seeing anything.

 

it wasn't my house, so i couldn't control if they came in or not. the room they were in was in the back of the house away from everything. i think that if we didn't let them in, it would have been worse. the cops were pretty chill about it all.

That's ludicrous. Last time anything like that happened I was smoking a joint with some people outside a bar, cop walks by, we put the joint out. He asks if we have more. No. Take it easy and have a good night. Bye.

Posession of a little weed - not worth the paperwork to arrest you for it.

 

Umm.... why did you even answer teh door? cops can't come in unless you invite them most of the time (the vampire rule).

 

as i said before, it wasn't my house and i didn't answer the door. the next thing i knew, there was a cop infront of us. my friend wasn't going to let the cop in, but he figured that since everything was hidden and out of plain view, we would be good. being high isn't illegal so we were good there. we weren't drunk, so that helped us. this might make things clearer, but the room we were in is all windows. so he would be able to see in, so my friend figured if we let him in and show some respect, it might go well. i don't regret letting him in, because nothing happened and he was a nice cop. the fact that he only had a half hour before his shift ended when we arrived helped too. he didn't question us too much. he tried to get us to admit what we were doing, but once he saw that we weren't giving in, he left. it was weird then, but now it makes a good story and it's a good laugh.

ha ha, thanks man. i thought i was done for sure for a few minutes. turned out to be nothing. there was no evidence of anything. all i had was red eyes.

i rather just get busted with the weed then shoot a cop. most cops, depending on how much weed you have, will either take it or just write you a ticket. if it's a really small amount, they might just turn their head. shooting the cop gets you in a lot more trouble then some marijuana.

 

Oh shit, that reminds me one time I was playing pool and turned around to find a cop with gun drawn standing behind us.

yeah, fuck bush. i also heard of something like cops can legally come in your house now, even without you there, and look around. they can't move anything, but they can look around. anyone hear of this? i heard it at work today.

 

I've heard some shit, like they don't have to tell you if they have been there and such.

 

that might be it, i don't know. i love the "freedom" we get, when they can go through your shit, read your email, and see what you've done online without any reason. but this is suppose to be ok because it's a part of the war on terror to make sure there are no terrorist in the country.
