So my girlfriend has always thought she was allergic to oxy because she told me a story of her taking 5mg and throwing up and turning yellow with dark circles under her eyes and getting sick. So I assumed she was allergic to oxy. But today she told me the OTHER details of the story. I guess she was fresh out of the hospital and was already extremely fucked up on all kinds of pain killers and medication from her surgery. Then she took another oxycodone and that set it off. I feel like maybe the oxy caused a bad reaction because of the other meds she was on.. what do you guys think? wud she be safe to take oxy or vicodin maybe??

    Probably not allergic but intolerant.
Pretty much any opiate turns me into a puke factory.

but she was already on other strong pain killers from the hospital and was fine until she took the oxy, and she has done tramadol numerous times with me so i dont think she is intolerant to opiates...

Probably just took too much. True opiate allergy causes rapid heartbeat, throat swelling, hives/rash and other life-threatening symptoms. All opiates trigger histamine release within the body, which is why they can cause itching and other typical allergy symptoms. Nausea, vomiting, pale skin, dizziness and drowsiness are common side effects that can happen to even the most experienced opiate user.

Liver damage is the only condition I know of that causes yellow skin/eyes. If she also took acetaminophen (which is in many opiates) that could be the cause. Or she just took too much.
