I'm 51 and married living in Brooklyn ,NYin the heart of a very religous and conservative area . I 'm depressed at times. I want platonic friends who can do/or be some of the following:1) critical thinkers who even question streotypical hippies! 2) Empathic-not only in dealing with problems but sharing joy and ecstatic states 3) Positive attitude; for me the fictional idealized hippy past is in the present but I am there only with my husband or by myself---a rare head appears here and there 4)" Abberant conduct( oops sorry I was trying to be lively and fun) "- I enjoy free style dancing ,tumbling around,yoga,bicycling,gettin absurdly funny 5) Ethics of :cooperation , 4 ever young,kindness to all to -ones capacity. An interest in real live friends not on the internet 6) Creative& Youthful- most f*ckers my age seem hardened, boring ,afraid to be seen as creative or bohemian.It's like hangin with ones parents! 7) focus on kindness ,helping others etc, more than material status. 8) Direct spiritual experience;thru art,music dance,sex 9) intelligence helps-I'm a borderline genuis and it gets lonely I live in a religously conservative area of Brooklyn.I'm a moderate Red Thread Zen -atheist. What happened to head mentalities? I'm doin the best to survive without these sort of folk Rainbow Family seems to be a bit lame ,worn out,bitchin 2 much about now instead of using now to create ---THEN! What do you think has happened to that mindset? By the way once hip areas are now Yuppified ! I'm not lying back but am working to get this rich persons playground back to simple pleasures. Maybe I'm hard on a stressed out city! I'm just lookin for bohos to get -unstressed with, toss a frisbee,make some music!

Greetings nylotus, I do better with people reall life and not here myself. But this has been a great tool for finding old friends and loved ones. But as SH sd I understand your intro. If you were to go to other rainbow sites I think you would find there are much better conversations goin on, I am not familier with this agr, but from what I gather it is very intense, I bet Hippiestead knows some links to more likemimded rainbow folks who dont use this as a tool to be negative. Sorry for this late reply, but I just stumbled onto this forum. You sound as if you are marooned on your own little island in Borough Park. I think I know how you feel. Sometimes we feel like we are an "alien nation" in NYC. (forgive the play on words - or reward it as you see fit) I'm an old Good Earth freak and I too am in BK sometimes wondering where my people disappeared to. Luckily, since I grew up here, some of my old friends are still around to be found and they enjoy being brought back to the time when we let our minds role out. However, there are folks out there who can and want to interact with you. They are hard to find (hidden in the cracks in the woodwork) but they are there. I can put you in touch with some.
