For those of you in the Seattle area, I'm sure you know that Alice in Chains is reuniting for their first performance together since 1996. HOLY HELL!

As far as I know it's a one gig thing (a benefit concert), but I plan on willing them to feel that spark again and make a new album.

Heart, Nirvana and Queensryche are also going to be playing at the benefit show. Unfortunately for me, it sold out in all of about 10 minutes.

    AIC without Layne is like-

    Queen without Freddie Mercury
    The Doors without Jim
    Nirvana without Kurt

i.e. -- it's next to impossible to replace such a distinctive voice

it'd be nice to see Jerry, though

Yeah, I haven't heard how they are filling positions of the dead people.

I mean... yeah AIC and Nirvana without the leads seems like it's pretty much nothing, but perhaps they have found a worthy replacement... as slim as the chances seem.

I thought I read that Dave Grohl and Krist Noviselic said there would never be another Nirvana performance.

It will be interesting to see the crowd response toward the replacements

yep....I can't imagine who they would get to replace him. I've seen Jerry solo, I still would love to see him again with the rest of them but I don't live anywhere near Seattle.:(

....okay, like AIC without layne is bad enough. it can't happen...

but NIRVANA without KURT??? that's the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. if krist and dave get together to play a show, they BETTER not call it nirvana. kurt WAS nirvana. he wrote most of the songs, he had the voice and the musical style and the idea that defined what nirvana was. there can never, ever, ever, EVER be a nirvana without kurt, and if they try, i'll lose all respect for both of them.

Okay, I'm officially disappointed. The news reported it wrong, dumbfucks.

The line up is AIC... Krist Novoselic, Ann Wilson, Sir Mix-a-lot (a pride of seattle... no), Chris DeGarmo, Children of the Revolution and Pat Lachman.

The news actually listed the names of the bands. What the hell? Always go to the source...

So that explains how Nirvana won't be play... it still doesnt say who is singing for AIC.

if they bill themselves as AIC, then jerry cantrell is even a bigger asshole than i thought. have a little respect, huh?
when i saw jerry asshole cantrell a month after layne died, he played a few aic songs and had some guy singing his parts while he sang laynes.
he didn't even mention layne's name, even though he performed songs that were written by both of them.
    what a dickhead.
thank you for letting me vent.
    peace.

layne staley already looked like a corpse when he was around...maybe they could use a dead body marionette and play his old vocal tracks in the background

Why should you respect someones life who didn't respect it themselves? But I don't see why they have to call it AIC if they do play.
