Hi. I will soon try to extract from 500g of dried San Pedro (SP) powder using this method: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=341437 What I haven't understood, is what kind of material am I going to receive? Something like a goo or a salt? Also, how much material are you going to get from let's say 100grams of dried SP? Do I have to put the extracted material after the evaporation into the fridge? Can it be stored in room temperature and if yes for how long? Can I just extract it and eat it even after 6 months without potency loss? Cheers!
lol no offense but if you took the time to put the link in your thread then i'd like to think you actually read it, which you must not have done since most if not all of your questions were answered in it. however since its your first post ill cut you some slack. for your answers you need to give more information for starters. depending on what kind of alcohol you use the end product will vary from between a sticky resin type goo and a more flaky type of crust. typically from what i've read 100 grams done with this method should produce somewhere between 10-20 grams of end product give or take. it doesn't have to be stored in the fridge however i can't imagine you'll be takin this stuff without doing so first. and as long as you do refrigerate/freeze it i believe it will hold it's potency for quite some time. 6 months -1 year would be what i'd imagine but i really dont know at all. hope this helped but honestly like i said most of these answers were already in the post, that's how i just gave them to you actually.
I forgot to say that I would use 99% isopropyl alcohol. Thanks for the answers so far. Anyone else really know the stability of the end product and the need or not to be refrigerated?
SWIM found definitively that because of extracted plant fats and waxes, it is best to refrigerate short term, and freeze long term for indefinite storage. Thaw before use. Swim would capsulize or partition dose ready for consumption before storage. End product is usually a black tar, but even with 99% ipa, can range from soft to crystally crunchy...but expect a sticky tar.
Yes, definitely freeze the end product. I made the mistake of not doing it with my last batch, and it got increasingly less potent the more I kept it unfrozen. An other interesting thing to try is mixing it with a high-proof alcohol if it's legal in your area. I've personally tried using Bacardi 151 and adding about half the bottle full of Peruvian Torch powder. I'm not sure how much half a 26er in this type of cactus is, but about a mason jar was a pound of this stuff, so you can imagine it was a decent amount. I then placed this in the freezer for a number of days, shaking it every once in a while. This produces a VERY potent black brew and 2 ounces of it was enough for a very strong trip (not for beginners, lol)! This seemed to preserve nicely and best of all: I had no nausea! Hope this helps!
