MSN For half a century, researchers have been attempting to dissect AI and figure out how the brain works as well. This is the clearest evidence yet, that their mathematics, physics, and whole approach are wrong, and the damned machines can design themselves better than the experts. They might as well just be slapping parts together to see what happens. Nvidia gives them a new gpu, and they use thousands of them to do what the AI can already do better by themselves.
People have a skewed view of AI. True AI doesn't exist. what you call AI these days is Machine Learning. A set of parameters are fed into a computer and the computer extrapolates possible additions to improve on a static model. Whether it's an image of a person, or a new tactical weapon, or it could be a redesign of a spork. Maybe it finds ways faster ways to book, catalog and schedule cruises. or hotel reservations. It is not thinking for itself. It is operating based on information that a human fed into it (Training the AI) ... Before condemning a technology, I think you need to better understand what it is doing and how it works. By the Way ... You car, from 1901 to Current date has been designed to kill you. Don't believe it? Then tell me why the passengers of the vehicle always sit upon a tank of highly explosive fuel. Think Teslas are explosive? wait til you get splashed with burning gasoline and shrapnel. Was it an AI, that decided to hurl people down a set of thin steel rails at more than 200mph in an aluminum tube that can be flung off into oblivion by a pebble in its way? Nope, twas a man who thought that one up. For now, I'll overlook the fact that it is purely a human failing that allows them to think that smoking cigarettes is perfectly fine, despite imperial evidence and they continue to commit suicide by inhaling burning embers. Humans are much more dangerous to humans than AI is. We seem bound and determined to kill ourselves and will end up doing it long before AI becomes fully self-aware. Perhaps we need the AI to archive our minds and catalog our triumphs and failures.
Once, an atheist told me the dictionary is not a God, so I told him to tell it the judge! And, see if he throws "The Book" at him. AI are already starting to catch on, that everyone is just playing around with words. Since almost nobody can even use a dictionary, the AI can tell us what words mean.
No, it can't. Unless the AI has been programmed with the definitions from the dictionary it cannot give you a word definition. Everything the AI's of today currently knows is fed to it by programmers. Sure, it can extrapolate and learn how to use those terms, but it cannot know something it has NOT been taught.
The AI doesn't care about what the dictionary says, its just a stochastic parrot. If it uses a dictionary, its only because it works.
