Should we bring back forced labor? Should we make the populations of our prisons do it? Or is that "like so China"? We would get construction projects done at a much faster rate. Thoughts?
I like the idea that if have to earn or pay back your debt to society, I also like the idea too of the old work camps. You went out and did a days work for your money not sit at home and collect a check. I would wonder just how many would want the monthly check if instead of sitting at home doing nothing, or talking on that cb all day, or selling dope, or having partners who had good paying jobs but they dont get married just so they can claim they are roomates ect would still do so if they had to work a day building a park, or cutting a trail ect.
This should be a VOLUNTARY option for prisoners. The government should also subsidize lots of post-depression type infrastructure projects.
They used to but now so many will seek a lawyer in the attempt to get a free hand out, no honor in a hard days work anymore I guess.
I don't know about 'forced' labor, although I do think there ought to be a limit on how long someone can collect welfare or social security. There are too many people who turn 18 and jump on welfare and rely on it for the rest of their lives, instead of looking for a job. :birds:
