Why is it we keep track of our age? I believe if we were to live in a world where no one kept track of how old they are it would seem like we have a much longer life as with knowing ones ages and life expectency we are all caught up in counting down the years until death and we become worried that we are running out of time for the things to do in our life. We wouldnt have 'seniors' as a stereotypical person that is too old to do many things as we wouldnt know when we are catagorised as senior or too old to do something.. everyone would just do things and not worry so much.. Yeah.. my random thought of the morning..
There are cultures, like that of Ethiopia, that don't count years like we do. They still have the same concepts about young and old age and death.
Well what of it? Why should a number matter more than maturity and other human traits? I've seen women in their 20s less mature than some 13 year olds.
what an interesting idea! after all it is just a number...we base so much on age rather than peoples individual growth. so very true Walsh.
I Forgot My Age Years Ago, Then Along Comes A New Bank Teller On Thursday That Didn't Know Me And Asked For My Drivers Licence And DATE OF BIRTH.... You Should Have Seen "The Look" I Gave Her.... Cheers Glen.
I not saying we don't age, but we all age differently. our bodies constantly change... While I think this is something to think about, its not really practical.
Since I turned 21, 24 is the first year I've never stumbled when telling someone my age. I think it has something to do with the fact I'm clinging onto my young 20's and don't want to turn 25. lol
there have been, and will be again, cultures in which, age is not specifically tracked, or a consideration in other aspects of social context. bodies age none the less. and birthdays are an excuse to make an event of it. i was 29 for ten years, and have been 39 almost ever since. but within the last year or so, it has occured to me, that i have actually reached the wise old age, i had fantacized being from earliest infancy. of course i don't feel any wiser then i was at 12. but then i still think i was at 12, as wise as most 20, 30, or even 40 year olds. just not as quick witted as young technonerds, who can think rings around me today, without half trying.
We all have our "senior moments" though the age thing is I feel should be measured in personal achievements and not with the passing of calendar. When it is of note then it should by the individuals themselves self -evaluation is the biggest test of our character; for we can all do better methinks and thoser of particular intellect don't need telling. We should use; as they were intended to be, IT innovations as tools of assistance not as replacements for personnel of human experience - who have laid the foundations for things which are taken for granted these days (not that I'm moaning of course)
because you're still young enough that new things happen to you pretty much every year. give it a couple years and you'll have to think about it every time you're asked. i don't "keep track" of how old i am. i still know what year it is and what year i was born in though, so it's pretty simple to figure out when i need to. when i see a gray-haired wrinkled person bent over and unable to hear what i say, i don't ask them how old they are, i just know that they are an old person.
I only celebrate birthdays to keep knocking every 19 year-old with a penchant for father-figures. Nah, honestly, I couldn`t cut the father-figure even if I tried. :2thumbsup: Age ain`t nuttin` but the number of times you nut, and granny-sex is the new Porn Valley chic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnXtIuYuJUM"]Andre 3000 - Pink and Blue - YouTube
