If I'm over 18, but my bf is 17 and the age of consent in Nebraska is 17, does that mean it's legal to have sex with him? I've been told that even though he's 17 and age of consent is 17 that if a parent files a complaint, I could still be charged with sexual assault or something like that until he's 19. I don't understand this??

You should be good. Here is an excerpt from an article about statury rape laws in Nebraska:

"Nebraska’s lawmakers have enacted “Romeo and Juliet exceptions,” named after Shakespeare’s famous young lovers, to protect young people from criminal charges for participating in consensual sexual activity with other young people. Under Nebraska’s laws, people age 18 years old and younger cannot be convicted of statutory rape. For example, a 17-year-old who has consensual sex with a 15-year-old cannot be convicted of sexual assault under Nebraska’s laws."

    There is the website.
16 is the age of consent.

Oh! I thought age of consent was 17. I'm 20 though. Does that change things? It's so confusing to me and I'm not willing to be a registered sex offender!! He'll be 18 in about a week though...

I would bet that 17 and 20 would be perfectly legal.

Sorry you have to go through this. It seems like you know what to do, though.
