I don't think they should HAVE to work. I think it should be the husband's responsibility to be the sole financial provider.
I mean if we give birth-that's it. That equals years and years of working.

you shouldn't, in fact, women thinking they do have to work, and wages dipping to a point that supports that, is a huge part of the wage gap in this nation.

further, it is a huge part of why 80% of the money belongs to 1% of people, even, yes, in the u.s. (worldwide the deficit is larger I understand)

Uh no. I don't believe in having a man provide for me or my non existant kids. If you can afford to be a stay at home mom, more power to you. A man shouldn't have to work harder and see his kids less just because you gave birth. That would be like a man should never have to ask for a blow job, should just get them every day just because he got you pregnant.

Well good for you if you have some one to work and look after you.

the man shouldn't have to work harder either.

a single income should be able to support a family, but so many people have gone so far in favor of dual incomes wages have been allowed to fall behind the rise of inflation.

With the way the times are, that's almost impossible, secondly, I've tried the stay at home Mom thing, it's not all it's cracked up to be....

    I prefer to work.

yeah imo our gender roles should go back to the way they were in the good old days.

men go out and do the hunting, fighting and pillaging.

and women stay in the village raising the children and doing the cooking and cleaning.

not as a gender role issue, but only one parent should have to work "the way times are" is a function of so many women going into the workplace so they could feel empowered, which I am starting to feel more and more skeptical about as a concept.

And the men die from the women putting axes in their heads because they've been stressed to the limits.

personally, i don't think anyone should have to work ever.

unfortunately, things really do need to get done in order for people to continue to live.

I think stay at home dads should be as common as stay at home moms, given other variables falling into equality

the problem is, people would have to have pay commensurate with maintaining a present "quality of life"

and the thing is, that would do a serious number on the economy, not because it would force inflation, but because to do it, without inflation, there would have to be some serious economic restructuring, and that would make a lot of very wealthy people very unhappy.

I think it is the mans job to plan for the future a woman’s job is to cook, get water, firewood, food and tend to kids.

If a man has to do any of that his hands are full and he can’t get to the weapons if someone attacks and then the whole family is at risk.

Every time a woman neglects her work she puts the family at risk.

There is a lot of contradictory economic theory behind this.

There is the argument that a women's labour is more valuable to the family as a stay-at-home mom while a child exists in the house. So she's only in the work force from 18 to 25 and then 45-65, contributing to the wage-gender gap. Obviously this doesn't apply to every situation.

You can make the argument fairly well that the huge pool of labour entering the labour force (women) drove down wages.

All kinds of fun gender economics. I wish I knew more about it.

I know, for reals. When we move we will be a one-income family. I make about half as much as my husband now (I work part-time). In three years he no longer has child-support and I think that would be a great chance for us to have kids because his income will be mroe than enough to support a family by then. Then it will only be 7 more years until he retires and then I can go back to work. It's really great. I won't have to give up myself and my personal dreams. Think about what an awesome message that will be if I have a daughter. Or even a son, because it willt each them to seek out someone domestic AND educated and able to take care of herself if worse comes to worse.

I don't mind making less money than men. If women held men accountable and only allowed responsible men to come near them than every woman would have the luxury of staying home.
I wonder which came first; feminism or a decline in men exercising responsibility and ccountability?

    I sense sarcasm ;)
I have BA, make good money and get to work from home half the time. But when I have kids I want to stay home. I want it all adn I always get what I want

I mean the gap between the working class and the obscenely rich.

the gender wage gap statistics need a lot of examination, there definitely is a gap, but I think it has been overstated in some fields, and understated in others.

"given other variables falling into equality"

it's a very situational thing, and the family should make their own choices based on inclination, and ability.
