Do you think I should keep my hair as an afro if I'm going to do the Nazirite vow (where you don't cut or shave your hair) or do you think I have to get dreads?

Well right now I have to keep it as an afro because my mom hates the fact that I want dreads and she said if I ever got them she would shave my hair while I was asleep. But I do love my afro. It separates me from the crowd and I love when girls run their fingers through my hair but I want to follow the rasta doctrines as closely as I can.

yes i find this to be one of the biggest roadblocks to the rasta lifestyle- mommy shaving your hair while you sleep

If your hair naturally dread's great. If it puffs, great. God created you like he wanted. Your perfect in his eyes brother. Besides, you can dread it without chemicals, combs, etc.
