I have finally convinced my mother to let me dread my hair, but I'm afraid to have just a friend do it, because I don't know anyone who knows how, or is even smart enough. So I'm looking for somone who lives in New York, in Monroe County, maybe I can even make a new friend! But if anyone does live in my area, come help me!
Well if i were in your area I'd do them for ya, not what you probbably don't wanna hear man, but Yeah !!! Good luck
Yeah, all you need to do is just let your hair be and do its own thing. It takes a little more time than backcombing but the results are way better. I backcombed my hair with wax and I cut out the dreads in 6 monthes because they were really nasty with the old wax. Personally, I say use no wax. This time, I let my hair dread naturally (although I did palm roll some of it and play with it) and in about 2 monthes, my dreads are way better than when I cut them out. Just wash your hair once a week and don't condition or comb. I use tea tree oil shampoo but you can use other cleaning concoctions. Peace & Love
I second Hippie chick.....natural is the way to go... and you can watch them form themselves. Whatever you do, they will dread, it just depends if you want symetrical round dreads, or free and funky/kinky/knotty as hell natural dreads and your hair will look like $hit for a while however you do it. Have fun with it and dont listen to straight haired folks on waxin.. Later This probably doesnt make sense but owell
If your hair gets nasty then wash it every three to four days. Do you wash your hair every day? If so, shampooing daily strips the hair of important oils, so your hair produces more oils to compensate. The less often you shampoo, the less often you need to shampoo. Check out this link: http://www.naturalfamilyonline.com/1-nb/53-no-shampoo.htm It's about using no shampoo and instead creating your own concoction. Personally, I use shampoo, but it's an all-natural tea tree oil (although it contains more than natural products - eugh!) Also, do you use comerical shampoos, like Herbal Essence, Pantene Pro-V, etc? You may have a sensitivity to a chemical in the shampoo. Peace & Love dharma mama
i used mane and tail shampoo when i first started goin natural and i washed everymorining and circular rubbed while washing. everyone is different.
Don't let your hair get oily if you go natural. Wash them! If you let them get oily the knots will just slip out. Good luck.
