Afraid to come out...

Hey! :H Just a couple of weeks ago I realized my true nature. I'm a 16 year old Bisexual male, and i'm afraid to come out of the closet, for fear of rejection. I have a huge crush on my best friend, and i'm afraid that coming out might push him away from me. Texas doesn't exactly have a reputation for being very gay friendly. Some of my friends jokingly toss around the word "fa**ot", and I am afraid that they might have some sort of preduice against me if I do tell them the truth. What should I do? I am in love with my best friend and don't want to lose him!

 

You might try , when its just the two of you, casually bringing up the gay issue and getting him to have a serious discussion about it, not the MACHO kidding around stuff, If you see he is a little sympathetic and not just full of hate, THEN you might let it slip that youve THOUGHT ABOUT IT , see what his reaction is, and go from there.

although as has beeen said before try and relax and it it the next few years to explore, no rush to sort out your sexuality yet or to come out!

Well, I finally worked up the nerve to tell him yesterday. He didn't have a problem with my sexuality, but wanted me to understand that he wasn't gay. I haven't told him yet that I had a crush on him, and most likely won't. I'm relieved to find that he supports my being gay. He told me that he had suspected for a few weeks now, although he hadn't mentioned it. Anyways, just thought i'd give a little update!

That's great man. As for your crush on him, it might not be the best idea to tell him, because I wouldn't want to do anything to possibly endanger the friendship that it seems that you guys share.

I agree with amp, I wouldn't tell your friend you have a crush on him, he might come totally unhinged. It is cool he is fine with your being gay and he reacted well.
