:& is it better to soak seeds for 24 hours until they germinates or is it better for the seeds to be planted directly into the soil and doing this how far from the light should it be?
I would appreciate for some advises as i am fairly new !
thanks and peace be with youxxxxxxxxxxx

I soak them until they sink to the bottom of the cup, then into moist paper towels until I get a taproot, then into soil. I would say it's better to soak.

definitely soak in a wet paper towel. once the shell cracks and you see a tap root making it's way out, stick it in the soil then.

and as far as how far away the light should be...it depends on what kind of lights you have. for CFL's, as close as you can. for HID's, keep them probably a foot away (in fact, some people recommend not using HID's when the plant first sprouts because it can be too much for them). there is no need for light until the plant begins to sprout its first set of leaves.

New seeds sprouted and planted but kept them away for the light
    thanks again x

the general rule of thumb for HID's is to put the back of your hand under the lamp at the same distance the plant is. if it's too hot for your hand after a few moments, then it's obviously too hot for the plant. but like i said above, you might have to a be a bit more generous than this when dealing with seedlings.

plant collapse could also be a result of over watering too. keep that in mind.
