I have been meeting a lot of people with ADHD and I dont see them having a medical problem, they just have a cool personality. Is there something in society that discourages a certain type of personality now? And if anyone here has ADHD what can you share to help understand.
I dated a guy for a short while with ADHD. His personality was wonderful, although he could be a bit too hyper at times....hence the adHd I suppose. I dunno about it really, but he did have problems concentrating and relaxing. I'm not sure if he took any meds, I never asked him. But he did tell me that he tried cocaine and absolutely loved its effects on him and I have heard somewhere that people with ADHD are partial to coke's effects because it helps to balance them out somehow. edit: Btw sultan, where in south fla did you get your sun/moon tatoo? I asked in your gallery but you never answcered:$
how does that work? Because of course coke is a stimulent and when I do coke I feel "up". I thought with adhd you are already feeling "up" al the time and in order to balance out you would need a downer of some sort? or perhaps it helps with concentration?
One girl i know does take meds and it is a type of amphetymine, she has lost so much weight because she doesnt have an appetite but she is calm. I know another girl who doesnt take meds but i can tell her mind is a powder keg, she is a workaholic to cope. I really like both of them and they like me cuz i am so laid back. about my tat, i havent read my gallery in a while, i got it done at electric krayon in hollywood
Yeah there's a big craze going on with Adderall which is an ADHD med, I think. College kids are using it to concentrate better in class from what I hear. I guess Coke must have the same effect that way then. I know where electric krayon is....never been in there though.
Food takes the edge off for me, so does talking. i hate sitting in a group and being quiet and not able to talk. For some reason when i'm eating i just flow.
people keep trying to tell my mom that my baby brother has adhd. really what he's got is energy to spare. he's active, healthy and curious about everything, and apparently that's a nuisance for teachers. my sister-in-law couldn't handle her daughter having any kind of energy, being the control freak psycho that she is. she kept my niece cooped up in her bedroom day after day when she'd get home from school, not allowing her to go out and play or anything, then she'd get pissed the the poor kid wasn't just being quiet and doing as she was told. the kid was always fine at my house. she played, explored, had a great time, then flipped her wig when she had to go home. poor little girl. now her mother has her on ritalin. not even 10 and addicted to unnecessary drugs.
I have it and after having such a bad last semester I've been debating going on aderall or straterra but I don't want to lose my appetite and no matter how much more I would probboly get along with people, do better in school ect I don't want to take meds. My personality drives some people nuts though and sometimes I drive myself nuts):
I have it and take adderall. The reason coke "balances" him out is because when his CNS is stimulated, he is able to stay focused on whatever the task at hand may be. This is something that is abnormal for a person with adhd, so the drugs bring a huge change in that area. Also, who doesn't like a huge release of dopamine?
It's a Curse. I'm attempting to find one clear, concise article summarizing a decade's worth of research into the cause/effect/treatment of adult ADD/ADHD and naturally I'm striking out. Why the search? Someone has misplaced the drive w/the bookmarks and files again. *kicking self* Very little research has involved adults. The vast majority has been w/children. R/L treatment? One medical treatment consists of an amphetamine from Column 1 and an antidepressant from Column 2. Sometimes an antipsychotic from Column 3 is required. Yes, just like a Chinese menu. The secret is to find the proper combination of 'drugs'/dosage (quantity/size/frequency/timing/interaction between the drugs). There are no hard/fast rules...only trial n error. When you get lucky and hit your proper combo, Life is sweet. Until then, Life's frequently a wild, wild ride...
I really don't think there is any such thing as ADD or ADHD. I do not understand why children who think and act differently than their peers have to be labled as having a "disorder." There isn't even any surefire means to diagnose someone with ADD/ADHD, so in my opinion it's all bullshit concocted by the government/public education system as a means to dope the children and turn them into conformist zombies, while at the same time feeding the pharmaceutical industry, which all ties in with the aforementioned. I was diagnosed with ADD in Kindergarten. They made sure they indoctrinated me into the system early, I guess. I guess they saw that I wasn't a conformist even back then. I was doped with the powerful stimulant, commonly known as Ritalin, from Kindergarten to 6th grade, when I decided to stop taking it because of the way it made me feel. The thing is, I am gifted and that is why I didn't always pay attention in class. It bored me. I have a 159 IQ, and I believe that was the real problem. I believe that is the problem with many of the children who are wrongly diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. They simply think and act differently than their peers, so they are automatically labeled as having some non-existent disorder and placed on POWERFUL, mind-altering drugs so they can become better followers of the herd. Then these same assholes wonder why so many of these same kids turn to drugs and alcohol when they get older. But we live in a society that shuns people who don't conform, so it's no surprise that we see so many kids doped out of their minds on everything from Ritalin to Prozac. Most parents cannot see the real agenda here because they too were indoctrinated into the same system.
It's amazing how so many people just go along with whatever they're told. They don't read. They don't educate themselves. They just follow. Here's your Ritalin. Be a good little sheep and conform. Follow the herd, that's right boys and girls. Ritalin loves you. Damn ignorant people!
Amphetamines just help people concentrate, not calm down. But ADHD is somithing thats blown out of proportion. Doctors Misdiagnose on purpose so they can make money off of prescriptions. I had to go through ten years of this when i was a kid
