I was really, really impressed with "Across the Universe." I was afraid it was going to be cheesy and that the music scenes would be awkward, but the songs fit nearly seemlessly into the plot. It was a fantastic movie. I loved it.
Yes, I am hearing nothing but good things about this film. That either means it's over-hyped beyond belief and I might be disappointed or it is in fact a good film with excitement surrounding it. Regardless, I think I might have to check it out.
I thought it was awful. It tried so hard to be artistic and it fell short. Predictable story line, horrible actors. I did not like it one bit.
I loved it. I wasn't expecting it when I saw it the first time. It fit the mood I was in perfectly and brought back alot of memories. And then since then Maharishi died. I always was into the Jai Guru Deva line from the song. And NASA radioing it Across the Universe. So it was all really beautiful timing IMO.
it felt like it took a long time to get into and the musical numbers were too long and drawn out. an it had every cliche of the 60s in there
I loved this movie, and the soundtrack is amazing. Obviously it's not the Beatles but I think the cast did a really good job with the songs. It's interesting to hear a different take on them.
I too thought this movie was horrible. I mean, in terms of identifying it as a musical. I felt like the songs themselves were okay, but the way in which they fit the songs into the plot was very bad. It is almost as if they made the plot adhere to their song selection, instead of giving both areas equal attention. This is why the movie seemed long to some of you....they kept adding nonsense to the plot only so they could use certain songs. One example that comes to mind is right after Bono of U2 sings the song "I am the Walrus." They all ride the bus somewhere, and then the main characters get left behind somehow. Then they go to that circus where Eddie Izzard is the singer of the song "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite." I mean, that entire scene could have been left out, as it was of no importance to the plot or theme of the movie.
ya i love love love this movie! i got it a month ago and i could watch it over and over !! i love the beatles and i think this was a great tribute to them!
Yea I loved the movie also, I own it and have watched it so much it is starting to skip. Everytime I watch it there is something else I pick up on. And my favorite part is how they filmed the bowling alley scene, it looks like so much fun.
