The lethal dosage of LSD is 12,000 micrograms (12 miligrams) in a human being, the common dosage however is about 20 to 400 micrograms (0.02 to 0.4 miligrams) therefore you couldn't really Overdose on LSD unless you were trying to.
The LD50's you find are wayyyy off... people do thumbprints of more than that and survive... So you couldn't even OD on lsd if you were trying. An overdose isn't always the same as a lethal dose- you can over dose on something like certain phenethylamines and be really really sick for a while with headaches and whatnot and need to sleep for a while.. This is an OVERdose because you took too much over a regular dose and got adverse effects.
whoops that should be 12,000 micrograms is the lethal dose in most test animals not humans...sorry and from that information i would assume that anything over 3000 micrograms could be classifyed as an overdose thats what i meant sorry
changed the figures to 3000 micrograms thats about what 30 blotter hits? i'd say you'd get some pretty adverse reaction from taking that much, everyones effected differently tho
Nay, I'm sure people have eaten vials at a time without reaching the point of acute intoxication. No one's ever reached that point, but like 2ces pointed out (and this is with any drug, not just LSD or phens), whenever the user has an adverse/allergic reaction, slips into coma or becomes violently ill the experience would be considered an overdose.
People do not OD on acid. Some people say that they've OD'd on acid, but what they really mean to say is that they had a bad experience, for any number of reasons, possibly including taking more than they were psychologically prepared for.
I wouldn't have had to mistaken it for yay to rail it...show me too much acid, and I'll show you not enough real quick. BTW, 2ces; if that's you in that pic, you remind me of my college sociology professor who ate a big bag of mushrooms on a school trip to Amsterdam. *lol*
toxic doses of LSD are several tens of thousands of times as much as a normal dose, making it one of the safest drugs known.
lol... I dunno why but that specific blunt put a special kind of smile on my face. The kind that needs to be commemorated forever
Psychedelics Encyclopedia Peter Stafford p.70 "For those concerned about immediate medical hazards in ingesting LSD...Abram Hoffer has estimated, on the basis of animal studies, that the half-lethal human dose--meaning half would die--would be about 14,000 [ug]. But one person who took 40,000 ug survived. In the only case of death reportedly caused by overdose (Journal of the Kentucky Medical Association), the quantity of LSD in the blood indicated that 320,000 ug had been injected intravenously." http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_dose.shtml I have heard stories about people eating massive amounts of acid before it was illegal, and I think the lethal dose is wrong on erowid.org and whereever else they say.
http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_chemistry.shtml Assuming that mice have the closest match to the human brain, theoretically a 150-pound male (68 kg) would have to inject ~3 grams (or three THOUSAND 100-mic hits) of %100 pure LSD... ...I'd be glad to give it a whirl if anyone cares to donate the necessary supplies.
