I have always had very nice teeth, and have had only a single small cavity in my almost 33 years alive. Ever since I have eliminated added sugars from my diet, I have decreased my chances of getting another cavity even more so. However, recently I have noticed some of the enamel beginning to wear away from my front teeth. I have also noticed the edges of my two front teeth becoming slightly but increasingly transparent. I attribute this at least partly to my consumption of kombucha tea, apple cider vinegar (which I dilute with water but still quite acidic), and dark roast coffee, which, along with water and tea, are some of the only things I drink. I have not yet been to see a dentist about this, but plan on doing so soon. I am worried about how much it's going to cost to get this problem fixed, and was wondering if anyone else has had problems with their tooth enamel and what they did about it other than eliminating problem foods and beverages. This really pisses me off because I like my teeth and have done a lot to keep them nice.
You Consume Pills And Supplements That Are Nothing More Than Shit, And Now You End Up Looking Like Shit. No Surprises There.... Cheers Glen.
I'm guessing that you avoid fluoride toothpaste. Maybe you don't. Either way, perhaps there is a toothpaste you can by that protects enamel. There are a few things other than diet which can cause enamel loss, including genetic predisposition, tooth grinding (at night even), stress, carbonated beverages (beer?). Also, dry mouth is a big deal! If your mouth isn't producing as much saliva as it used to, that can speed up enamel loss. And heartburn is a big one, do you ever get that? A friend of mine, much like you, had a healthy diet, low in sugar, no soda, etc. She ended up not going to the dentist for about 4 years, and had 9 cavities and one of them was a root canal! Her dentist said that some people just have higher acid levels in their saliva. Sometimes yours can just change, with reason and maybe without http://ultimateoralhealthguide.com/2012/10/22/change-your-ph-and-improve-your-teeth-and-gums/ Maybe take some of the tips offered on that site until you can visit a dentist? Good luck
I have no problems with my teeth and so I did nothing about it. But yes, the edges of my front teeth look a bit transparent as well. I regard it as normal though and do not expect any chewing problems for a long long time. I've heard people smearing stuff on their teeth which enforces the natural ability to regrow enamel. If it is really bad that might be an option But seriously, a little bit of transparancy on the edge of your front teeth seems nothing to worry about.
I would recommend pro-namel. As far as I know Sensodyne just helps block the pain from sensitive teeth, not actually restore enamel. Oh. And gargling with a mixture of baking soda and water can help neutralize acid from food, acid reflux, whatever. When I was younger I used to have a bad stomach and threw up a lotttt. My dentist recommended the baking soda to combat tooth decay. As far as I know it worked, never had a cavity.
I use this.. http://www.bulkherbstore.com/Bentonite-Clay-Powder and it lowers the ph of my body =] they have instructions on how to make toothpaste out of it too...
Rinsing your mouth three times and day with baking soda and brushing with baking soda changes the chemistry in your mouth neutralizes the acids and works wonders on your teeth. Oil pulling is another method of keeping dental hygiene healthy and protecting your teeth ..swishing coconut oil in your mouth ten to twenty minutes every morning and then brushing.
