christianity threw christ under the bus when in cannonized saul of tarsus. but none of this is really the point of any religion anyway. too may "christians" think they own the will of god, because christianity has a book no god ever wrote, any more then the scriptures of any other belief. the unknown being unknown does not prevent a billion gods, or a billion beliefs about one god either for that matter, but neither does it require any of them to be infallable, have the slightest desire to be feared, or owe bugger all to what humans tell each other. and that includes in books that are called religious scripture. truth is the universe, that exists beyond the box of what humans tell each other.
Our ancestors chased the (majority of the weirdest) religious loonies away Of course some of our ancestors were such loonies too The US was actually an encouraged destination for them: a whole new country for living your life the way your cult wants it :-D
which unfortunately, it was called the doctrine of discovery, for which people who had already been living there for thirteen thousand years, had every right to be not particularly amused. but it does explain so called american "values".
I think the doctrine of 'discovery' came primarily from the mainstream christian immigrants, themnax. Manifest destiny In a hurry to claim all the land. The smaller and more peculiar offshoots were generally already glad to set up a colony/settlement/community in peace. Well, most of the mainstream christian folks too of course. But they were led/governed by the powerhungry.
it was a papal bull. i forget names and dates. not good with names anyway. but its a matter of historical record. shouldn't be too hard to look it up.
Because they are too cowardly to criticize other faiths. And it's the only religion you can dis without any career-ending or life-destroying repercussions. If you criticize Judiasm, you become a racist If you criticize Islam, you become a xenophobe If you criticize Christianity, you're just exercising your freedom of speech. If you criticize Atheism, you're triggering the thin skinned
Quakers haven't been notably guilty of that, nor have the Jehovah's Witnesses, obnoxious as they are.
