I just watched an "above the influence" commercial during adult swim... first off, WTF are they doing selling air time to an anti drug/alcohol special interest group, and second, the commercial itself was completely counter productive. It showed a girl passed drunk in a chair and her friends had tied ropes to her arms and were playing with her like a puppet, they were all laughing and having fun and the girl had obviously had her fill.... Looks like fun to me!
I was listening to the local rock station one day and a commercial came on like: "This is a public service announcement brought to you by 93.1 the fox, reminding you to say no to drugs. Because if your drugs are talking to you, then you've probably had enough."
they are a business. said interest group pays them good money to be shown during adult swim, because said interest group knows that it is reaching its target audience this way. it's not like people will stop watching adult swim because they don't agree with one of its commercials, although they will stop watching if adult swim stops making ad money and becomes unable to continue paying for high profile shows like family guy and king of the hill.
That commercial is to show that if you drink you might pass out and get fucked. But I haven't ever seen or had that happen and if I did I'd flip out when I came to.
i've seen it happen. it's a fratboy thing i think. this is my biggest complaint about these commercials though, most of them show people making drunken fools of themselves, then they say "don't smoke pot" even though the people were CLEARLY drunk, not stoned.
"Additionally, there are higher rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidal thinking among people who use marijuana when compared to people who don't use.49 Teens who started using marijuana before age 15 are more likely to suffer from anxiety and depression in early adulthood.50 A new study shows that smoking marijuana is associated with a 40% increase risk of psychosis, and the risk is greater among regular and frequent users.51" complete garbage lol, many countries are using marijuana to treat depression and PTSD in war stressed troops. You know, they can't expect people to believe such lies forever.
"correlation does not imply causation." actually, i hate that phrase, because correlation DOES imply causation. it just doesn't guarantee it.
hahaha i just went through above the influences references, look at the dates on this shit. References Brookoff, D.; Cook, C. S.; Williams, C.; and Mann, C. S. lol right? The family guy parody of the girl melting into the couch is pretty funny. Doug Benson has a pretty funny act about that commercial too. "Here I've been smoking the 'i can't find my keys shit', and somewhere out there, there is some melting into the couch shit. Maybe if i melt into the couch I'll find my keys"
It cracks me the fuck up they show pot ALL THE TIME on Family Guy, and then it cuts to commercials and they're talking shit. Great PSAs man.
