What do you all think about Obama's claim that he is bound by law not to end DADT unilaterally by not appealing the court rulling against it?

Do you think this really holds water or is it just another excuse to play politics?

I've been pretty impressed with Obama for the most part up until now, but maybe he just seemed so much better in contrast to the troglodyte who preceded him. Unless he somehow manages to fulfill his promise to end DADT "on his watch", (which I doubt,) I will probably hold this against him... even if I do end up voting for him again as the lesser of two evils.

I believe he is just saying that to try and please everyone. Not that this exactly pleases some, but it does offer an excuse to his holding back. He wants more votes and there are a lot of voters against this topic. I can see why he does it. But I do not agree with it.
    Manipulation is foul.

Well as pointed out this is now moot, but before the Senate made history (after the November elections BTW - HATE POLITICS) I was quite put out that the Obama Justice Dept felt so compelled to challenge this case that had effectively said DADT was unconstitutional.

I found it ironic that the case was pushed and won by the Log Cabin Republicans, then was going to be challenged by the Democratic appointed Justice Dept.

Made me say I would not give Obama the support I gave last time. I will likely vote for him again, but not investing my money in any iffy "change."

I never understood why, if he was sincere, he could not have dones something as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. Now that the Legislature has ended DADT, there is talk about it needing time to implement. Just waiting for the next gay person to be booted while that "implementation" is under way - that will be a media circus. As Commander in Chief, why can't Obama send down an order to all the Generals and other officers to cease and desist on any implementation of the now ended DADT. Surely the Commander in Chief has that much command power.
