Does anybody know where to get a decent scale that isn't horribly expensive? Or is it safe to just use something like a graduated cylinder to measure out dosages? Obviously not extremely accurate, but accurate nonetheless, yes? Peace. -Christopher
I think a scale and a graduate measure two different things. A scale would be used to weigh solids and get measurments in mg, g, etc. A graduate would measure liquids, ie mL. I THINK...
Yeah, you are probably right. I am studying pharmacy, you would think I would know things like this...
I wouldn't use a cylider to measure dry items, you wont know if the density is consistant...if you disolve in a liquid first make sure that the compounds is soluable in the liquid that you choose, then it workds great.
I say that it would be fine if you measured the substance in a graduated cylindar. provided that the substance is a liquid - what graduated cylinders are used for - just obtain the mass of the liquid per ML and take measurements accordingly. A tip would be to use the smallest graduated cylinde possible in order to get the most precise measurement.
