Check out Moe. Sort of a Phish inspired band but leaning more towards just plain rock (most of their songs don't have keyboards).

scroll through all the threads in these seven pages and click on any name you don't know.

What other kinds of music do you like, or, what do you want music to feed in your soul?

String Cheese, ALO, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Soulive, and Widespread top my list, probally in that oreder right now.

The String Cheese- Sea of Dreams New Years in San Francisco was positively the craziest, most awe inspiring blend of tribes I've ever seen. And I'm old enough to have caught more than a handful of Dead shows when the man was still around, as well as more Phish shows than I can remember (hehe...). The Eletronica/Dance crowd, CircusPerformerArtist/Burning man Crew, and the Hippies all togther as one. Total sensory overload, and all in a good way.

I highly recomend them to all, and the download price from livecheese is pretty fair.

Also start loggin into JamBase regularely, theres a wealth of info on there, concert schedules and links to most jam bands, even the local not-so-knowns

kimock.com which has tunes to hear while on the site
    fareed.com
    kannal.org

    for crazy out there stuff:
    DeadKennyGs
    Jacob Fred Jazz Odessey
    Lunar Fire (at kannal.org)
Garaj Mahal (touring right now if you can catch a show)

    Cover bands worth seeing:
the Schwag (dead, based in St Louis)
Phix (duh, guess who they cover... based in denver, very good vibe recreation for the early 90's stuff.)
DSO/ Dark Star Orchestra. this can go both ways. DSO's trip is completely copying shows, which has merits, but the feeling of the spontenaitey might not be in the room. I personally wish the folks who go well, but I have better things to spend my energy on.

    Project bands:
    Banyan
Willy Waldeman with Rob Wasserman, Steve Kimock
    Honky tonk Homeslice
    Billy Nershi (SCI) Jillian Nershi
    Zilla/ Zuvya
Travis (SCI) although this is (these are) Jamie Janover's band(s), in the sense that he really makes the music cohesive and communicates with the people who are there for them.
    SwingSet
    (Dave Johnston, YMSB)

    Jeff Austin and Friends
    (Jeff is from YMSB)

Lots of places that book jambands have links to the bands' sites
Quixotes.com is a good one and they are fairly accurate when describiing... Jay can get overblown but he IS tryting to sell tickets.
Find the local head bar and check out whomever is playing.
Relix magazine's reviews are fair and accurate and might be a good sjopping list.
We used the old "too new to be known" column as a shopping list. Now we are amazed when we see people we have been seeing for a while show up there!

Night Owl, you might very well be the first Assembly fan I've come across on this site.

Granted they don't spread their wings much outside of NY/ New England, so their exposure is limited, but they are for certain my favorite band to see live.

if you dig them, check out ryan montbleau as well. Most AOD fans I know are also big Ryan fans.
