the other day i went to the mall with the chick in my sig, hating it, but at the same time having fun seeing people of different stereotypes contradict themselves (seeing "gothic" people wearing a trench coat ive seen on atleast 5 other people in the last week... hah, individualistic..), so i, being the scraggly, stinky hippie kid reaking of patchouli and unwashed hair in a dirty green feild jacket with a giant steal your face on the back, decided to go into abercrombie and fitch clothing outlet thingie...

a person who works there walks up to me with a very faint, but noticable, shade of disgust on her face. "can i help you?" she says to me, and i say "no thanks, im good"... so we walk around.. so i see a pair of pants. but not just any pair of pants. a pair of pants with premade holes in it. but not just any pair of pre-grunged pants, an $80 pair of pre-grunged pants. plus, if you threw in an extra 10 bucks, you could get a shitty 1x4 inch solid black patch that was poorly sewn on.

also, $10 underwear, $180 dollar jackets, and a bunch of faded pants that cost easily 100 times more for something that looks almost exactly the same at salvation army or goodwill.

so me and my girlfriend are going around, critisizing prices, getting dirty looks from all sorts of abercrombie youths... we left not soon after, and ran into a girl that i'd seen a couple of times at shitty local concerts (that are no fun sober), and we had a nice little chat.

we're going to reinact the veitnam war in abercombie and fitch.

    it will be awesome.

but yeah, anyways, dont EVER buy anything from abercombie and fitch, even if its at a discount store.

or american eagle (which prolly isnt even made in america), or aeropostol.

    go me! *pelvic thrust*

or hot topic. stay away from there. you can make your own gothy shit and be 90X better than all these "invidualistic [wearing the exact same clothes, listening to the exact same music, and filling up notebooks with a bunch of poems about killing yourself (not unlike every other 'goth').] goths".

Clothes are clothes. When I was like 14, 15, I used to wear Abercrombie and all that. But I mean, it's just the point of spending 100 dollars on a pair of jeans that can look the same if you bought them from wal-mart and put some effort into it.

yeah, but abercombie, american eagle, and aeropostle are the most wide spread overpriced shit stores (atleast around here)...

i've never paid more than 20 bucks for shoes, pants, or a shirt.

clearance pants, payless shoes, and homemade tiedyes.

What is really sad. Is when you walk into Kmart and there are jackets over $100 bucks. You stop, you think, you look again and walk on.

I like Old Navy... if only because the prices are reasonable.

I *love* this new fad on holey clothes... not. Why spend $20 on a pair of jeans to make holey over a few years when you can spend the low low price of $100 to have it done for you? It's discusting having to look at random people's underwear because there are big, premade holes on their asses. Gross.

$80 FOR RIPPED JEANS?!?!? Are they nuts? I pay anywhere from $15-25 dollars CAD for jeans. I spent $7 on the shirt I'm wearing right now only because I have to wear clothes lol. People like that make me sick. Everytime I go to the mall and go to kohl's *book store* the people next door at Bluenotes and LaSenza look at me funny, because of the way I dress. I occasionally go in there and buy jeans for $40, because I like the way they fit and they're comfortable for work. I always get these snobby looks from the women that work in there. You know the type..."Like Amber, you like look so good..like you know" Shut up. Get a fucking brain.

Times have changed so much over the past 30-40 yrs. I could never bring myself to buying a $80-100.00 pair of jeans or paying more than $10-15.00 for a dumb t-shirt,but society has become this. Social and peer pressurer at all levels have pushed some to this point. Some is parental upbring! What strikes me funny is that people actually pay out that kind of money to look "hip". Back in my day we would sew on patches until we had no more material to sew on. Now you can "buy" a pair of jeans with patches on them for way too much money. What ever happened to the second hand stores? I've found a few but anymore they're not cheap either. I shop at Wal-Mart and Goodwill for most of my clothes and garage sales in the summer. Last year I was looking for a pair of sandles like a used to have. What I paid $4.00 for(a few years back) were now $15-20.00 at this "hip" shop. No I didn't buy them,I just fixed my old ones. I also see all these people crowd in to this fashionable stores. The only thing is that I feel sorry for them cause they don"t know any better and I still have money in my pocket!

I own a $90 pair of ripped jeans from abercrombie and fitch but I didn't pay for them so I don't really care. Just because someone cares about fashion doesn't mean they're brainless.

It seems pretty brainless to me to care about a form of ugliness that's so absurd it has to be altered every six months.

wow, jointman just called himself a wigger...I never heard anybody refer to themself with that word! lol

anyone even consider the fact that most of these clothes are made and hand-sewn by people who barely make enough money to survive? Some of the clothes that you little princes/princesses wear are made by kids under 10 years old who are working because they are FORCED to do it and have no other choice. But who cares, right? Just go on with your lives oblivious, sleepwalking with not a care in the world for anything but your own sense of fashion and fitting in with your mindless peers, who just as passionately un-care about the suffering that may or may not be caused by their apathy-as-lifestyle choice.

Me and a lot of activist friends I know, on the other hand, get ALL our clothes from fleamarkets and army surplus/2nd hand shops.

yeah, but you see, unless you stole them, SOMEONE payed 90 bucks for a pair of ripped jeans that you could've made yourself and nobody would've knoticed the differance.

What the point in caring? If I shop in a thift store the masses will still shop at abercrombie, a few people can't make a difference. I'm not trying to defend these huge companys that use sweatshops to creat clothes for teenage sheep, It's just the horrible shitty world we live in today. The majority of people don't care as long as they can live their comfy suburban lifestyle. We are doomed, there is no hope. So why bother?

Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna drive my car off a fucking cliff.
