Whoa, I'm not a barefooter by any means, but I am totally shocked by the comments people are making.

Since when is barefoot akin to toplessness?

And does it really take a genius to realize that keeping your foot in a sweaty sock is what breeds the germs (and stink)?
I never wear my socks inside cause I don't like to stink.

I don't get all the fuss, it's a Wal-Mart for Christ's sake, not a friggin' 4 star restaurant. I understand that the health department has codes forbidding bare feet in most eating establishments (at least in my neck of the woods), and though it doesn't really make all that much sense, I can accept that people don't want to be looking at feet while they eat. Wal-Mart, though? Psssh, there are ladies walking around with warts all exposed and oozing out their armpits (actually, this is mostly an insane exaggeration), that are scarier and way grosser than anyone without shoes.

When I was in high school, my theatre group went on a trip to a regional competition and our older friends who had graduated a few years before followed us and somehow one ended up without shoes, so they went to Wal-Mart to get him some and they wouldn't even let him in the door to buy shoes. And that's the reason they were there! I would've turned around and gone elsewhere. I'm sure there would have been SOME place to let him in so he could buy shoes, but instead of deciding to take their business elsewhere, one of the girls went in and got him some dollar flip-flops and took them out to him so he could go in the front doors. Ridiculous.

No shoes is a liability.. someone couldve dropped a glass bottle and a stray shard of glass could make its way into one of their feet, and BAM! lawsuit...

as for no shirt, its kind of a "fitting in with your surroundings" issue.

why, i wonder. i mean, if i am shod and some idiot leaves on the floor wood boards with 3 inch long rusty nails sticking out upwards , and those crappy nails pierce my combat boots injuring my foot, there is a point in a lawsuit (happened to me. never thought about starting a lawsuit for that). but how can someone be held responsible for barefoot people hurting their feet is obscure to me. so if you get a cut from scrape glass while walking down the streets who are you going to sue ?

someone is always suing someone else for something or other. I bet wal mart has multiple cases going on at any and every given time.. so they gotta cover their ass as good as possible, you know... Everyone wants to sue walmart.

When I was in 2nd grade, I stepped on a rusty nail sticking out of a board and it went in my foot about an inch and a half. Through the sneaker and all. These boards were on the neighbors side of our shared driveway.. I don't know the legal rules about that or anything, but we didn't consider suing anyone (that i know of, i was 8)

These folks on the site would be shocked to know that Walmart does not have a policy barring service to those who are bare chest or barefoot. Any one experiencing such behavior from a Walmart store is encouraged to call corporate office and report the store 1-800-WALMART for those who need assistance that's 1-800-925-6278 Complain loudly make sure you get the name of the person who mistreated you. It's fun to have the manager call and make an apology.

i believe it is because your system encourages lawsuits. here it is just the opposite, asking for justice means an odyssey that may well last for DECADES (some family friends of mine won a law action. it took just 30 years. their own lawyer was corrupted, so he never told them they won) because our court system , both criminal and civil courts, collapsed long ago. if you lose then you have to pay your lawyer's bill and legal costs. both are deadly. compensations are outrageously low and temerarious lawsuits are punished. there are three (3) degrees of judgment. frequent amnesties save felons from prison. corrupted lawyers. corrupted judges. sabotage of laws coming from within the parliament and govt. in short, justice does not live here anymore. that's how Italy goes.

at least, shop owners and supermarkets aren't concerned by barefooters getting foot injuries... only a few marginal bored bitches will ask you to leave their shop because they're afraid of the Courts Folies. not a big tradeoff, though.

Are you for real? The cleanup crew operates faster than a NASCAR pit crew. Besides, that what barefooters do....not fit in with the surroundings.

Never understood why anyone would be in a Wallmart in the first place. Really sounds like a low life kind of store.

When you have no choice, you have no choice. We have a dollar store, a Wal-Mart, and a couple of grocery stores. And it's nice to be able to afford things. I try not to go more than once or twice every couple of weeks, but in some places, it's a necessity. It's sad, but true.

Do you have specific a legal citation(s) for these codes? Just because there is a sign on the door stating there are doesn't mean it is true. If someone has sandals or flip flops on, you STILL see their feet:sunny:

The hostile reactions are because, as someone pointed out to me the other day, something as simple as taking off your shoes in a way is world-changing. Not only are you bringing to everyone's attention an unseen hidden societal "rule" that "everyone must obey", but your passive activity is to them like you directly challenging their belief system, and that hostility is their vehemently defending either/both.

There need not be actual "laws" / codes / whatever when the populace has been thoroughly brainwashed into believing that there are and their adversely, antagonistically, enforcing the myths of them. The "laws" / codes / etc. don't really matter to them, just the anti-freewill anti-barefoot stance they've been taught to believe, as reflected in how they persist even after having been shot down on all their "points".

I didn't post in this thread looking for a debate, don't expect to get one. All I know is that I work in a restaurant and I have been told that it is against health code to allow bare feet in the store (if you'd like to dig through the Texas DHS site, you feel free, but I have better things to do with my time than search that mess to prove anything). I pretend I don't see when people come in with bare feet, but know I'm risking my ass and my job every time I do that because I've been told by superiors that it is not allowed.

ive never kicked anyone out of any of my stores for improper attire... However, at a Fricker's I worked at, this guy had these ripped up jeans and aparently no boxers on. add into it barstools at higher tables and you have a visible penis. He had to be politely notified of his situation and he took necessary action.. We didn't kick him out, and his cock was showing. Mind you, it was an accident.

There's this guy that used to work at the place i work at now, he used to deliver pizza barefoot.. I don't know if i would do that. people have some fucked up shit in their yards.
