"Hang your head in shame" - if this was said in a public place by a member of the public it would be treated as a public order offence, the authorities be called and legal action taken - An eye to be kept on this - for this, is not Animal Farm - despite the philosophy that the Tory hierarchy advocate

There is a law that takes in racial hatred, but not for white people being racially abused, its to appease the immigrants to be honest.. but yeah VG, only in UK lol

If I were a black person in this country I would feel incredibly insulted. And this from a member of Parliament who is representing thousands of people in her constituency. No one even pulled her up about it in the meeting either, which included Tory MPs Bill Cash and John Redwood on the panel.

There's the public order act of 1986, the racial and religious hatred acts of 2006, the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act of 1994 and the Criminal Justice and immigration act of 2008.

However, none of these laws would punish people for the simple use of a word in any context, and the words of this MP would not breach any of these acts because they were not intended as a threat and were not used with the intention of inciting racial hatred.

She was just being an ignorant twat who should be summarily dismissed.

If she'd said "It's a real ****** in the woodpile, and while we're on the subject, let's kill all the blacks, especially this specific black, his address is XXXXXXX, also I hear he's a bender." then she'd have got a home run on breaching all the hate speech laws in one sentence.

Laws like these are by no means unique to the UK.

Good job she didn't say 'muslim in a woodpile'.

It just goes to show that despite the public image they try to project, they're basically the same old tories they always were.

She should be chucked out of the party for good - but given the slim majority I wonder how likely that is...........they're happy after all to rely on the homophobic fundamentalists in the DUP to prop them up.
