Is it possible to be a Christian and be a policeman or be in the military? Seems to be contradictory to me since you would be carrying a weapon and have the possibility of killing someone.
Well, since the great majority of policemen and military in the US would say they are Christians, this is an odd question. But I guess you are referring to what you define as a "true Christian"?
yeah, even if you don't kill someone, by being involved with these organizations a person would be condoning the killing of other humans. That to me, is opposite of what the bible says..at least, that is what it seems to me
Both of those positions require oaths to be taken. It doesn't make you less worthy but you will find your worthy considerations in conflict.
The Bible's full of people getting killed and many of those murders are presented as being a good thing. Besides, none of the Christians I know have a problem with killing in self defense or the defense of others.
The difference lies in the motivation. Murder is motivated by hate and anger. Where as a policeman is motivated by a duty to maintain order.
By pronouncing his verdicts yes as in when the fig tree was cursed. A man is justified by his words. What war are we asked to fight? If not for the soldier there would be no civilian casualties of war. In the same turn Monkey Boy the armies belong to ceasar and we render, for example if drafted or conscripted. As I said a soldier is no less worthy but he will find his worthy considerations in conflict. The mere prospect of becoming a soldier or policeman has sponsored the OP's question.
In general, the Christian's will never want to hurt anybody as they’re intent to be good, spiritual people is strong and pure of heart, unless of course their spiritual enforcement officers at the Vatican have informed them that there is perceived competition nearby, in which case, the suspected rival “group” will be dealt with in accordance with the previous historical record.
