Monaco is about half the size of New York's Central Park. The principality consists of four quarters: Monte-Carlo, Monaco Ville, La Condamine, and Fontvieille. There are plenty of towns within a taxi ride or hire car jaunt. The Vieux Port, or Old Port of Menton, is a picture-perfect city port. Unlike the boutique cluttered villages-turned-celebrity magnets elsewhere on the Cote d'Azur. Menton's port is quaint, low key and exists at the leisurely pace of yesteryear. Grasse is a pretty town in the hills of south-eastern France and Old Town is a pleasant place to observe life of the inland Cote d'Azur. Half a mile offshore from Cannes, are lie de Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat are pleasant mooring sites around the protected 'Plateau du Milieu', where there is plenty of room for water sports. Sainte-Marguerite is famous for the Fort Royal, where legend has it that the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned in the 17th century. Sur Mer is a small seaside village with a bustling produce market every saturday and a second-hand market on sunday.
