I got sick of getting drunk every weekend and being too high to talk, I flunked a year on my university twice and I'm getting fat, I sleep until 2 pm every day and go to sleep at 4 am, if i don't drink or get high I spend my day on the Pc. So, hipforums, it's time for a small change. 1. I'll go to sleep an 10 pm and wake up at dawn. 2. I figured I need a spiritual ritual and practice everyday but since I don't have much sympathy for church and religion or going to the gym I figured i should start with Surya Namaskar and than doing some exercises i got for my neck. 3. I will give up alcohol completely except on birthdays, weddings, anniversaries etc. 4. I will smoke only one joint daily, preferably before I go to sleep. Sometimes I may smoke two but only if I have nothing else to do today. 5. Stop drinking any drinks with sugar from shops, they fatten, and start drinking tea with no sugar 6. Stop smoking cigarettes, they just make me feel bad. 7. Oh yeah, I deleted my facebook, thank god, it's so liberating... Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make my change, transformation if you will, less painfull and less difficult. I Really need to find time and discipline to study and I think this will help and eventualy make me feel better, stronger and more confident. Any suggestion. Something else to do?
You've got more than enough to be going on with there! You've set yourself a helluva task! Good luck!
It's yoga, salutations to the sun... it's done early in the morning, you pray around by doing various yoga positions
I also recommend some kind of aerobic exercise, jogging or something similiar. It will help you kick the cigarette habit. Its really hard to get up in the morning and run 3 miles when your lungs feel like shit! Also, if you replace soda with tea I recommend green tea for a natural and healthy caffeine fix and an herbal tea with eleuthro in it if you do start an exercise regimen. Eleuthro helps the body repair physical stress and it gives you ridiculous amounts of energy. Good luck! Getting up at dawn every day is no easy task, I wish I could do it myself but when my alarm clock goes off at 6 am I never remember how much I love the mornings and getting a head start on my day. the only thing my brain is capable of telling me that early in the morning is to go back to sleep
good call with cutting back on pot the same time you quit cigs. I quit cigs 2 months ago and I'm still smoking more weed than I did when I smoked cigs oh, and as for the green tea thing meliai suggested you should try mint tea - mint is also a stimulant but I find I'm able to fall asleep better when I want to than when I drink caffeinated tea
It's pretty hard but in my defense I have a flu or something... it's been two or three days and I haven't touched alcohol, i smoked maybe a quarter of a pack of cigarettes and I'm not waking up at dawn but always before noon, so it's an improvement, i'm not doing any yoga yet, I will do it when i start waking up earlier but I went out everyday at the evening for a hour walk... + I decedied, weed stays for a while... Will tell you more about my progress in a few days...
Ford_Prefect, Congratulations on your resolve to improve yourself! I encourage you to always strive to do this! No one is perfect, and we all can improve. Anyone who is not growing and trying to improve is dying. My advice would be to not be too hard on yourself if you can't make all of these changes at once. If you mess up on something, then just get up and try again! Never give up! I would also encourage you to get out of your house or apartment, and to get into nature as much as you can. You can gain strength and health from being out in the fresh air and you will naturally get some exercise there. Good luck on your quest! P.S. Good screen name!
Don't add the aerobics too quickly. My exercise habits came slowly, starting with yoga. AS for the cigs, my husband finally beat tobacco with the patch. Just don't wear it to bed, it screws with your dreams. Take one smoke at a time, don't stress pot until you're off tobacco. You might try focusing on one change at a time, in intervals of a month or so. Ease into it. Lifestyle changing is not an overnight thing, and if you try to go too quickly you'll burn out. Yoga's a wonderful start. As I said, it kind of kick-started me into a much healthier lifestyle. Didn't plan on it, it just happened.
I'm a crochet girl, and my husband does woodworking on occasion. There's macrame, survivalism, guppy breeding, gardening, sewing, pranking, all sorts of fun. Alright, so I just threw guppy breeding in for a laugh. Don't judge me!
Not sure what your opinion on nature is, but after a quick google images search, I see Croatia has some pretty amazing environments, maybe check them out, go on hikes and such. If you don't like nature, maybe you can add that to your list of things to change
