Well Sometimes it feels all scriptures are pure. Other times it feels like no scriptures are pure. And sometimes, it feels as if some scriptures are more pure than others. But if you want to know my feeling, I feel that purity has nothing to do with scripture but has more to do with the mind. The mind colors a situation a certain way at a certain time based on the certain thought that it experiences within it. The thoughts ofcourse are based on our own past actions or our reactions to their results. Thats why it is important for us to ask ourselves why an action is impure to us, while another action maybe pure, because then we will better control our mind and guide it to purity and freedom.
Hare Krishna! From SGB...... I kind of think people are the same way... we are always focused on what is different between ourselves and others...and I always wonder how things could change if we just stopped and asked ourselves what we have in common. What is really different about me and the man sitting next to me on the subway? What is the same? Don't we all want to be happy? Want love? Don't we all have the deity/Light within us? I almost think this people are just like scriptures...they have within them the potential for positivity and radiance ...but its how they deal with this potential ...whether they let it shine or cover it in ignorance of outward perception... That's wonderful. Thank you. Wish everybody could think so beautifully like you. But that is not to be.... because............your signature says it all. Love, Kumar.
Hare Krishna! "Hi, I'm the Lord of the Cowherds and I approved this mischief!" All knowledge starts and ends here, into the infinity. Love, Kumar.
Saraswati is in the moment... when you're flowing creatively, and the vortexes in your hands are receiving, and giving you are saraswati incarnate.
quite simple, really. her image is just a metaphor a projection you can inject to stimulate the mind.
You don't think we are all god? Tsk Tsk. You think that saraswati would actually exist in her magic form? That's funny.
yes she does exist in her magical form, just like you exist in your form. you don't understand hinduism properly, God is in us all but we are not god. those who say that they are god are arrogant and miss the point entirely.
What do you mean by her magic form? All Her forms are magic. Do you think that the Mother exists only in the human imagination?
I think that saraswati is a metaphor for a state of mind. Saraswati is someone to look to for guidance. I really believe we can embody her in the moment especially when flowing with a musical instrument. I don't believe someone could incarnate as saraswati for their entire lives. It's a in-the-moment thing. I work with a lot of musicians who are hindu and go to india and have gurus and all that jazz.... so that's just my opinion.
Well She is the consort of Brahma so the whole music thing makes sense, considering the Om emanation, the liberating Sound of which existance is a reverberation of.
Jedi my brother, while I agree with you, in regards of clarification only, would you kindly explain what you mean by God is in us all but we are not god in particular, the difference between the red and blu words? Just for fun, of course PS does anyone feel something good in the atmosphere? I hope Im not the only one! Namaste
According to one line of teaching, Sarasvati is one aspect only of what is termed Shakti - which is the creative power of the divine. It's Ok to see Her as a state of mind, but perhaps She is actually more than that. I don't think any music yet created on this planet can fully embody the presence of the Goddess, but some certainly takes you places where you can feel much closer to Her.
Indeed...my friend said this and couldn't stop laughing...I'm most certainly convinced that that "mischief" is the source of life's ironies. When ironic things happen we sometimes jokingly look around and go, "Krishna! That was so *not * funny!" and then giggle.
Its kind of ironic you brought this up...I was listening to a Vedanta podcast last night (b/c I was sick last week and couldn't go to the Vedanta Centre)...and Swamiji was talking about this very thing...let me dig it up so I can transcribe what he said which I thought interesting... "...One of the great Mahavakyas is 'You are That' and hear 'That' refers to God so essentially it means you are God...its a statement that can't be denied its very provocative. Can't be denied that it seams blasphemous...how is that statement to be understood?...when things cannot be taken literally, we understand them metaphorically...so when we say xyz 'kicked the bucket' we know that its not a statement to be taken literally, so we reject the actual literal meaning of that statement and accept the metaphoric meaning. So if that is understandable that is we do it all the time. When it is said, 'You are God' a statement that seams blasphemous we say, 'Look deeply' and maybe it is not meant to be taken literally and maybe there is a metaphorical truth behind it. So instead of getting upset at what the statement means at first glance we need to take a deeper look at it...." Swami Tyaganandaji, From the 8th study group of the Panchadashi text- 2/14/08 ---- I'm not very good with understanding Vedanta or explaining...so I'm not going to say any opinion...your statement just reminded me of this which I heard last night and am still processing...
