So I was just thinking.. I keep seeing people who say that DMT is produced naturally in the brain, it causes dreams and near death experiences, why is it illegal if it is in all of us, etc. But, I have never seen a study that actually proves that it exists in the brain. Perhaps I'm not googling the right terms, but if someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it
woah you have a point my friend...i tryed doing some reasearch myself and couldnt find any studies...interesting because i always beleived what i was told. That being that dmt existst in your brain and is realeased in dreams ect... i now wish the same thing as yourself...haha sorry i didnt end up helping you...just sort of agreeing
I think it's just a theory, far fetched? - quite possibly. It seems very illogical that DMT would be the producer to your dreams as the 2 experiences are not alike at all and there's a perfectly naturalistic explanation for dreams, as there existence isn't odd like many people sometimes claim. I find it annoying when people will be like "what if dreams are keys to other dimensions and they're actually happening!" You can't argue with people like that.
what about your opiniun on the near death experience being related to dmt? i had one a few years back...it changed my life...i was scared at first but then i recalled what occured when i was asleep (i had hypathermia in the canadian wilderness) and it resembled a dmt trip TO AN EXTENT mind you. at the time i didnt even know about dmt but after i did dmt the first time...i noticed the connection
read strassmans work. he himself says the role of dmt in the body is unknown but he hypothesizes it has to do with near death expireinces as well as being a kind of reality thermostat. everyone also always says it comes from the pineal gland...it may, but that is an educated guess as well. dmt is measurable in the human body, we know that, but beyond the fact that it is present, very little is scientifically known.
You should realize this is a bad habit. The whole dmt/dreams/death thing was only SUGGESTED as a POSSIBILITY by Rick Strassman in his book. Of course, this being the interwebs and filled with young impressionable minds, his word was taken as gospel, and the myth of dmt was born. so much misinformation about this molecule. Resist the trap of mysticism.
i will try to get my hands on that book...its not so much i beleiv everything i am told...i was talking with a good buddy of mine (who also happenes to be my dmt hook up) and he is wise and knowlagable...when he told me that dmt was in your brain and all that i never thought to question it because he has never led me astray from the truth...he is a very smart person. just goes to show you how misinfo over the years can infact change what people think or beleive.
DMT is not technically in the brain, it is held and produced in the pineal gland, which is an organ of it's own and not part of the brain. Although it is in the center of the brain above many or the receptors in your brain and can release the DMT into the brain and these receptors. As soon as it hits the brain it is diminished, similar to when sugar hits your brain. It is released usually at birth and at death, or a near death experience. I still have alot more to read.
definitely. rick is the one who solved many mysteries about the dmt experience, and uncovered unanswered questions that were always there for us to reach them, but too deep for pur concsiouss mind to reach. he conducted a big research during the 90's if i remember right, and he had 70 volunteers that were undergoing psychiatric evaluations, before, and after tripping, and they would learn how to trip correctly (let go mentaly and such..), and ofcorse they needed only a variety of specific people with specific traits. they were trippin 4 times in 4 hours if i remember, low dose, and high through IVing
@ posative vibes do you think the book would be in a normal library? or would i have to strech out a little further
would you mind giving me the link to where you found it in that version? im having difficulties with my computer.
I'll check into his book. I skimmed over the introduction online (Obviously not all the content) and he just seemed to state that it was present in the brain/body but did not back it up with anything. Either way, thanks for the answers so far. If anyone finds some kind of study perhaps they could post it here.
joe rogan says it like it's a fact, personally i think that guy is a joke. he's a very egotistical person and is a wannabe terrence mckenna.
