I know this may sound like a weird question, but i have always wondered: ya know how some people go on really long mountain climbing trips that last for weeks...well what do they do when they have to go to the bathroom? I imagine it would be kind of difficult/uncomfortable, especially when it is really cold and what not...

lol... well ya dig a lil cat hole n go to the bathroom, no different than camping anywhere else in the woods i spose... i would figger if folks found crappin in the woods an issue they would most likely be in a hotel room somewhere rather than out climbing mtns..

Usually folks go in a bottle for the liquid and zip lock bags for the solid. It always makes me laugh when I see someone drinking from a yellow Nalgene(sp?) bottle since they made them that color so you would know which one was the "pee bottle".

Another way people blast heat is by packing up a short piece of 3 inch PVC pipe with caps on both end. You just pop the top and hope not to hit your hands.

Before people were as worried about leave no trace, people would jjust drop the leg loops on their harness and let it fly. It was known as a "mud falcon".

    hahah mud falcon!

I have taken a crap in between two narrow rocks on a steep face that took hours to climb. I was kindda sitting facing the horizon, and let it go in there, it was magically put there for me to take advantage of.. is what I figure.. ;) Felt much better and climbed the rest of the wall much lightly.. ;)

Several national parks now require you to pack out your waste, some even give you sealable bags filled with sawdust or gel flakes to solidify both liquid and solid waste when you stop at the ranger station to register. They work, I take them on short sailing trips with me since my current boat is too small for a porta pot.

Yup. I had a friend who wore a t-shirt that said "I Shit On Pike's Peak". I stopped hiking with him.
