I know most people reject the idea that someone out there might be thinking about re-releasing FFVII, but I'm now fairly positive they're going to remake the game. I took a peek-see at the ending of crisis core (because I'm too damn impatient to wait for them to release it here, and too broke to import!) and there is an ending similar to the PS3 tech demo...the only major difference being cloud's entrance.

But at the very end of that, it says "to be continued in Final Fantasy VII." considering all the FFVII spin-offs they've released, and considering the fact that the original game is no longer being produced, and this new cut scene with that message, I don't see how anyone can continue to deny that they have plans to re-release it.

    any other opinions?

PS...sorry to put up yet another 7 thread, but I don't think anyone has actually made a thread that says more than "who thinks ff7 is the best game ever?" blah blah blah...

If they remade Final Fantasy VII, I would probably drop out of life, give up all responsibilites, and devote myself to reliving the experience again. Not only that, but it would be the only incentive for myself to purchase a PS3. Not only that even, I would sell my soul if I could only make it actually happen.
But will it actually happen? There is several references from Squre itself, it does seem very possible. I have hope, at least

I really have no doubt that it's gonna happen. That little secret ending teaser on CC as close to a confirmation as you can get, short of square enix releasing an official statement on it.

I mean think about it. There is a whole new generation of players who have been exposed to all the hype, people who've played all that DoC crap, people who've watched advent children....and many of these people have never played the original, and since the original is out of print it's likely that they'll never play it. And you've got people like me, who played the original but no longer own a copy (or in my case, it's damaged)....SE would have to be MENTAL not to rerelease it.

I'm like you, I don't own a ps3 yet, and probably won't for a while....but I would sell my kidneys to get one if FF7 was released for it. Just think about what crisis core did for the psp in japan....they had record sales the week CC was released, and the game itself sold out. There is no doubt in my mind that and updated version of FF7 would do the same for the ps3 sales, even here in america.

They're just dropping way too many hints, and there's too many positives going on to think that they won't release it. It might be another 2+ years, but it's coming.

Of course it would say "to be continued in Final Fantasy VII." Crisis Core DOES take place before the events of Final Fantasy VII, right?

But it would be cool to have a 3-D FF7...whoops the original was 3-D.....Well a more DETAILED 3-D FF7. More outrageous cut-scenes with Tifa's overly large you-know-whats lmao.

yes, it does, but that's not the point...we all KNOW these events take place before ff7...we don't need them to tell us.

The point (I think) is, why are they advertising for a game that they no longer produce/sell? The only way for anyone to get it is buying pre-owned....and I don't think square would be promoting that since they get no money out of the deal.

they could get money out of it if people decided to play ffvi and that got them excited enough to play the other crappier spinoffs. i do think that a remake is much more likely though

FFVII is an amazing game. There is so much to it. Espically for its time. To think if they redid it with todays graphics. I dont see how we could be dissapointed. Just another reason not to touch a xbox.

Oh and by the way. I still have a clean copy. =]

Oh holy fuck....Screw you and DIE!

My disc 2 and disc 3 are in perfect shape, but disc one somehow got these 3 huge dents, not scratches but actual dents, on it. I can't buff them out. I did have my old game saved on a memory card so I was at least able to play on disc 3, but some whack shit happened and the memory card got reformatted....I had hundreds of hours worth of hard work on that damn thing, and it all vanished right before my eyes....

that blew big floppy donkey balls.

So there you go....I NEED them to release a new version....for my own sanity.

My sentiments exactly! I've easily spent more time playing and replaying FF7 than I have any other game.
