it's one of those times that i wish something were actually illegal for my own benefit. i don't pursue illegal activities. so if they're not in the store, i won't buy them. see? totally selfish.

Are you sure thats not a lie or a myth? You can get it here too, it smells lovely, but its still horribly processed and far inferior to the real stuff, which is illegal. Again, I doubt the powerful tobacco lobbies would allow it to happen, but you know better than I.

america is the land of tobacco and regulations. if you want all natural tobacco, there's someone growing it for you.

also, there's still quite a few native tribes who still have to used natural tobacco in their prayers and such. to not have any available would be a violation of religious rights.

aaaaha, I see! Well, at least you can smoke the stuff unadulterated even if you're not growing it yourself.

People grow natural tobacco all over the place where I live. Tons of small tobacco farms around here.... it is legal.

    Cigarettes smell great.

Anyone who doesn't like the smell should just stay away from smokers.

    It's that simple.

Afraid of second hand smoke? Stay away from smokers.

Constant raging anti-smoking nazi? Stay away from smokers.

I don't give a shit if other people think that it smells bad. I don't go around blowing smoke at them. It is their choice to walk past the corner where I'm smoking and not around it.

I used to buy full leaves from small producers in Lismore, NSW, and grind it up in a parsley shredder, before I grew my own. Theirs tasted a lot better than mine though. I really had no idea it was illegal. Typical, governments pandering to the tobacco conglomerates.

You really are the worst advert for "Smoker Pride" ever. I was way more sympathetic to your cause before I read your posts, and all this self-pitying faggotry has made me want to "choose" to walk around the corner where you're smoking just to throw petrol over you. :)

Sir, you have destroyed my pride with your statement. May I now fundle your testicles?

    Uhh, those smell horribly.

I request you to cut them off in the name of society!

    Self Control...

You say you drink alot. Well, as it so happens, alcohol annoys me. And it's a much greater public health threat because of drunk driving. That kills you instantly, not vaguely over many years. Yet, do you see me out on a campaign to ban the practice? No, because I'm not a whining little pansy. People smoke--man up, get over it, and move on with your pansy life.

Someone drinking alcohol responsibly in their own house or whatever (and not driving drunk) is totally different from someone blowing smoke in someone else's face. I have no problem with people doing whatever they want as long as they don't harm other people... and that could apply to both.

Geez... the smoker's get pissed off easily.

People drink in their own homes, and out in public. In fact, most of the time when the person is actually getting drunk, they do it in public--bars, clubs, house parties where they will most likely have to get home while drunk, etc. Just like people smoke in their own homes, and out in public. I wasn't comparing smoking in public with drinking in your home, so I don't see your point. Like I've said a million times, second hand smoke is only dangerous if you live with one, not if you walk past one on the street. City skylines don't turn brown because of cigarrette smokers--think of all the other pollutants your breathing from car exhaust.

And for the record, I don't smoke.

You mentioned drunk driving and I thought it was a bit ridiculous to bring that up as a comparison to smoker's blowing smoke in other people's faces in public. Of course drunk driving is wrong and shouldn't be done- I didn't see anyone in this thread say otherwise. And drunk driving has nothing to do with see... a restaurant setting- a person having a glass of wine or a beer with their food causes no harm to other people. However, a person smoking a cigarette... well, other people would breathe in that smoke.... and despite what you said about second hand smoke not being harmful unless you live with the person, I have seen many studies that show evidence to the contrary. REGARDLESS though...even if it isn't harmful, it still stinks... gets on people's clothes and is very annoying.

    1) I don't drive. Minor point, but worth mentioning.

    2) Alcohol doesn't actually annoy you, does it? You're actually just saying it does because you want to argue. But whatever, it doesn't matter; alcohol may annoy you, but it's not actually hurting you unless it's being severely misused, and it doesn't stink your clothes out unless someone actually throws it over you.

    3) Alcohol does not release noxious fumes across a wide area, or otherwise directly harm people who aren't using it themselves.

    4) People do campaign against drink-driving, quite a lot. Where've you been? Same goes for alcohol-related violence.

    5) You can drink without driving; you cannot smoke without... well, smoking. Again, same goes for alcohol-related violence. The equivalent of avoiding alcohol use that's likely to have harmful secondary effects on the public would be... oh wait: NOT SMOKING AROUND OTHER PEOPLE.

    6) I don't actually have a problem with people smoking privately. I don't have a problem with people masturbating privately. I wouldn't want them to do it in public, and that doesn't even hurt anyone - it just smells. If anything annoys me, it's smokers, not smoking, and specifically smokers who, before there were smoking bans, were going on about quitting all the time, but who now use retarded bullshit to defend their habit: talking about their right to smoke, as if their right to smoke is under threat from being told not to do it in places where other people won't be able to avoid it; dismissing passive smoking offhand; talking about how the smoking ban is about "the nanny state", as if someone who is addicted to huffing carcinogenic fumes can honestly claim to know how to look after myself!

If you wanted to campaign against the collateral damage caused by drinking - against alcohol related violence, drink-driving, alcoholism etc. - I'd have no problem with that. Far as I can see, that's only the same as me being in favour of public smoking bans; I'm not against the practice itself, just those who inflict it on others. And based on this thread, there seem to be a hell of a lot of smokers who aren't the poor victimised souls they always whinge about, and actually just vindictive pricks who couldn't give a damn about anyone else as long as they get their nicotine.

I can't recall the last time I've seen anyone blow smoke in someone's face... and I hang out with a lot of smokers.

    Yep, you're a pussy.

or you could get hit by a bus. let smokers have their space. don't get all pissy when some people over there are smoking because now you can't go over there. that seems INCREDIBLY simple to me.
