I was reading and found out that Ritalin is not actually an amphetamine. I knew Adderall and Dexedrine were, so I had always assume Ritalin was one as well. But Ritalin is actually Methylphenidate and its molecular structure is quite different than that of Speed (Methamphetamine) and Adderall. Just something to chat about. Peace
Yep, thats why its effects are a little bit different than those of amphetamines and dextroamphetamines. I prefer adderall.
Yup I've known that for a while. The effects are still quite similar, but the structure is quite different.
yup, jus read the generic names. vicodin=oxycodone; adderall=D amphetamine combo; ritilin=methylphenidate. .... JW, how long did it take you to figure this out?
Vicodin is not oxycodone, Vicodin is hydrocodone. oxycodone is a different drug. Ritalin is also more responsible for the side effect known as "Ritalin stare" where kids who are given it stare into space, almost drooling. Adderall is less likely to cause this effect. Ritalin also is more likely to cause Tourette's like symptoms than actual amps. One of my kids has ADHD and Tourette's and the doc does not give the child Ritalin because of the fear of more TS symptoms. He said it is less common with Adderall. The child does quite well on the Adderall, very little ticcing, and no staring, either.
