The question I’d take from that is why did so many lies work then and why do they still work some 50 years later? The Vietnam War grew out of lies and was fuelled by them virtually throughout (and if anyone doesn’t think that I suggest they watch by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, and I can suggest a number of books also) The thing is that those that tried to point out those lies were smeared by the right wing media as subversive’s lefties. Why do people not learn?
^^^^^^^ Lies work because soooo many people are vastly under-educated, and are very gullible to those who rant & rage loudly. Many of Rump's supporters barely got through high school without a huge struggle - if they even graduated. They're too lazy to even WANT to learn. Standardized test scores, SAT scores, reading comprehension test scores in the dumper. Seniors reading at a 4th or 5th grade level. College??? Post-graduate studies ??? ……………. Please!!! Homework was a joke in school. Party, man …………...party!!! I'll just get a job somewhere - maybe work in "Joe's garage" or load trucks at the Ajax warehouse. Facts????? What facts???!!! I'm listening to this guy over here - listen to how angry he is and how loud he's shouting!! He MUST be right. He's on to something!! He says there's a secret, inner "deep state" that's trying to make us into Communists and ruin our country!! (My life is so miserable - he MUST be right.) It's "their fault" my life is so rotten. See …………… he even said it's their fault !!! I knew it !!! I'm for that guy - he's gonna make things better for me and my family. Good paying jobs are coming back. We're gonna be great again !! See ……………… I didn't have to go to college …………….. the good jobs are coming back !!!!!!!! With LEMMING followers like those described above - do you have to wonder why lies still work? They can't decipher the meaning in a simple middle-school short story - let alone serious world news events when political leaders are such fantastic liars. Just listen to many of the LEMMING followers speak when interviewed by reporters. Try to read things they attempt to write with their poor sentence structures, bad grammar, misspelled words, words used wrongly (there, their, & they're for example), and sentences that run for 10 miles with no punctuation. Ask them what the latest state to join the U.S. is, and they answer "Puerto Rico." Or ask them which state is an island, and they tell you, "Rhode Island." Or ask them what country lies just to the south of our southern border - and they answer, "South America." Many "adults" in this country can't answer simple questions correctly that grade school kids should know. How can we expect them to sift the truth and facts from minute-to-minute lies & constantly changing stories poured out like a flood? That's why / how lies still work.
According to the Washington Post, Trump has told over 18,000 lies while in office, and counting. He lies with impunity and his sheep followers don't see it or don't care. After all he's making America great again, taking us back to a time before welfare, civil rights, women's lib, gay lib, legalized marijuana and other communist doctrines. Nixon lacked the charisma Trump has, and so his lies were not overlooked and they led to his downfall. Trump's downfall will have to be losing the 2020 election, and with Biden constantly putting his foot in his mouth I'm not overly confident that will happen.
Actually they do know it's Mexico. After all that's where we're building a wall that Mexico will pay for!
