If a case of scabies goes untreated, the symptoms will most likely worsen. correct?

I have been very itchy for months, back when I first started noticing it I was almost sure that it was scabies. I had the characteristic "track" or "burrow" marks on my wrists and on the backs of my hands and on a few other spots on my body, but it was never really that bad of a rash just very itchy.

I was treated for scabies. One treatment of 5% permethrin cream applied to my entire body and I left it there for 10-12 hours then washed it off. Over the next week it seemed to get much better, the itching subsided, and the rash slowly went away. I thought I was cured.

A couple weeks after treatment the itch started coming back, I didn't panic right away because I had done a lot of reading about scabies/treatment by that time and had read that the itching can last a while after treatment and is even sometimes a side effect of the permethrin itself. I decided to give it a little time and see if it got any better or worse.

It's been almost a half a year since I decided to "give it a little time" and at this point I don't know what to think. The itching seems to come and go, I still feel the "crawling" feeling some days, I even have little red bumps occasionally that itch quite badly. But these bumps don't really resemble the burrow marks that I had in the beginning. Most of the time I'm just very itchy with no rash or bumps.

If Anybody had scabies for almost half a year without any kind of treatment, wouldn't the itching/rash/bumps gradually become significantly worse?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I left out a good amount of details for the sake of keeping my original post as short as possible, but I'd be glad to give more details if any of you have questions for me.

    Thank you.

I'd get more creme and wash and dry everything a couple times.

And sorry this sat so long.

    How is it now?
