A conservative opinion on sex

I'm no moral pillar, by any means. I'm perhaps the most, or at least, one of the most immoral people you would ever meet. But, here's an idea.

Wouldn't it make sense to wait for sex until marriage? I mean, it wouldn't be so bad but you are risking involving the life of another potential human being.

I hate to sound indignant, but a conclusion I've come to is that humans that engage in sex merely for pleasure are lower than animals, because animals only engage in it for reproduction.

Now, if you are someone who thinks they are smarter than mother nature, and got a visectomy or something, more power to you. But yea, I'd like to just go and stick my dick into anything that moves, but that would be my animal instincts, and I'd like to believe that humans are just slightly higher than animals.

 

I've been divorced over 7 years and don't plan on getting married again and just cuz I've ain't married anymore doesn't mean I ain't had sex in the last 7 years.

I got a tubal ligation over 7 years ago, but that doesn't mean I want/need/can go screwing everything in the neighborhood.

 

So....are you trying to tell me that once you ARE married, you are only ever going to have sex with your wife when you feel its about time you had another baby? Give me a break.

 

I was just trying putting forth a logical opinion, but these boards are starting to seem very devoid of logic.

And no, I would not have sex with a wife only trying to have a baby, at least I don't think. All I'm saying, is we should at least try to control our animal impulses, or we are no better than animals.

But, I'm not exactly a person who is controlled by his impulses, sexually especially. I guess you could call me asexual, and it's just sickening sometimes to see how animalistic a lot of people have become. I don't blame them for not being able to control their impulses, but that surely doesn't mean that I don't feel disgust.

 

I think animals only engage in it for pleasure... The reproduction is a side effect. (I know that reproduction is the purpose, but animals don't seem to in my experience...) Go to a zoo and watch the monkeys...

 

Actually, NEVERMIND THIS THREAD. It will only make a hypocrite out of myself. I'm just as horny as you are, and can't say that one day my hormones won't get the better of my judgement.

 

Animals still masturbate. The males are willing to do it whenever/wherever while the females aren't always "in the mood." (In heat). So the males masturbate. I've seen members of the monkey family do it on tv and I've seen horses do it up front (that wack their penis against their stomach repeatedly.)
There are some theories that other species have sex for pleasure such as dolphins and the monkey family although a quick google search didn't show me a consensus. I choose to believe that some of them do.
I also think that we are above the animals because we have more control, we don't have to do it just to reproduce. Humans enjoy all sorts of pleasure that animals don't. Should we stop eating chocolate, going to the movies, playing sports, reading, travelling the world ...?

i really like this ^ and i agree... it's incredibly difficult to be logical all the time about love and sex. sex isn't just about reproduction OR physical pleasure.. though it does include these things, you also have to factor in your heart... emotions play a huge part as well in sex... (unless you have something wrong with you that creates a separation between the physical and emotional) even with "fuck buddies" and one-night stands there is still some sort of connection there, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.

having said that... i think everybody who engages in sex and isn't ready for a child should use lots and lots of protection!!! condoms and birth-control! or perhaps try to find other ways to fulfill yourself.

 

in christianity, or at least in the southern baptist tradition that i'm familiar with... ppl say that you create soul-ties with every person you have sex with. I'm not sure where it says that in scripture, though.

In many religions ( eg taoism ) , sexual energy is the main or *only* energy that binds the universe.Paganism and other religions value it very highly too

Actualy, it sounds like you are saying that we should reject our animal impulses rather than control them. It is true that we are no better than animals, because we ARE animals. I agree our impulses should be controled, which is different than dogmaticaly following rules (any rules) about those impusles.
