The kid was stopped at a cafe with some friends at the time and was apparently killed by mistake. Secondly, there has never been any proof shown that his father actually killed anyone, and his father (who is an American citizen, like his son) was never charged with a crime. His "crime" was releasing propaganda videos and calling for attacks against america. Reprehensible? Most definitely. But is assassination without any trial or criminal charges really how America should deal with people saying things that it doesn't like?
