I know there's not a lot of sports fans in this place, but one of the big things I miss from the 90s... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhyTOZp8Ra0
I miss Magic Johnson. When he got HIV it bummed me out a little. The Lakers weren't as cool after... I never looked back from that though. I was getting into trouble around that time I guess. 91-92. Well he's still alive at least that's a good thing. Basketball was never the same for me after that. I was like 11 or 12.
Magic Jonson is proof that if you have enough money you never die. He's healthier now then he was 20 years ago. It makes me feel bad for the all the average men who got the same sickness.
The music (especially mainstream dance music + brit-pop etc), Panda pops (especially blueberry flavour one), TV shows: Cracker, Touch of frost, Red Dwarf, Bad girls.......I also, often miss the delicious simplicity of old tech!
Oh & the fact that we hadn't yet as a society gotten to point were everything a person did to be 'risk assessed' to see whether or not it fell in line with health & safety bullshit!
I don't hate em but I greatly appreciate growing up without them. Yes, one of the best points in this thread is a thing we have now and miss the lack of in that glorious decade!
Agreed! It's a very useful piece of technology but it's diminishing situation awareness and the worst thing for kids to have. I struggle trying to keep my daughter from being overly consumed with it. I carry a flip phone and catch so much shit for it and get called a "dinosaur". It's a bare necessity that I'm comfortable with.
My flip phone literally fell apart about 2 years ago Used it as long as possible until the very last day Now I'm on my second cell phone and first smartphone. Intent to make it lasts just as long. It's a dirty industry. You know what kind of stuff goes into making one? Yet everyone here wants (and gets) a new one about every year or so... Frustrating and annoying. I can't blame people for being misantrophic because of things like this (no worries though: i still dig people myself ). But yeah, this thread is about the 90's..!
I miss the pre 9/11 air travel. It was so much easier back then and you didn't get sexually assaulted.
I think it's funny how romantic comedies made post 9/11 still have the running-through-the airport scene. He'd be tackled and maced, and added to a no-fly list. Unless it was a black guy. Then they'd just shoot him.
I miss $5 for 7 weeklies Movies I would never have watched otherwise, finding the odd gems I havent watched a Van Damne or Jackie Chan movie since video stores died
