Anyone like it? The original hippies used to turn up their noses at bubblegum music but I love it.

I have a vinyl record called "The Best From Buddah". It's a classic. Buddah was a record label that released many of the bubblegum hits.

    Tracks:
    - Chewy, Chewy (Ohio Express)
    - Simon Says (1910 Fruitgum Company)
    - Green Tambourine (The Lemon Pipers)
    - Shake (Shadows Of Night)
    - Yummy Yummy Yummy (Ohio Express)
    - Rice Is Nice (The Lemon Pipers)
    - 1, 2, 3, Red Light (1910 Fruitgum Company)
    - Down At Lu Lu's (Ohio Express)
    - Momma Momma (Melanie) (note - Melanie was a performer at Woodstock)
    - Goody Goody Gumdrops (1910 Fruitgum Company)
    - Hole In My Pocket (The Barry Goldberg Reunion)
    - Quick Joey Small (The Kasenatz-Katz Super Circus)

I also have a Lemon Pipers album with a song called "The Jelly Jungle", absolutely hilarious. The Lemon Pipers were probably the best of the bubblegum groups.

I can remember as a kid my parents having an album with some of those same tracks on, but I'm pretty sure it was a different comp as it had the original of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and Harpers Bizarre's cover of "Feelin' Groovy".

I have a similar compilation LP, only with a slightly better track listing:

    SIDE 1
Janis Joplin - "Down On Me"
The Impressions - "Fool For You"
Tommy James & the Shondells - "Crimson & Clover"
Strawberry Alarm Clock - "Incense & Peppermint"
    Len Barry - "1 2 3"
The Delfonics - "La La Means I Love You"
The Intruders - "Cowboys to Girls"
The Ohio Express - "Down at Lulu's"
    The Who - "Magic Bus"
    Ricardo Ray - "Nitty Gritty"

    SIDE 2
The Ohio Express - "Yummy Yummy Yummy"
1910 Fruitgum Company - "Simon Says"
Tommy James & the Shondells - "Mony Mony"
    1910 Fruitgum Company - "1 2 3 Red Light"
The Turtles - "She'd Rather Be With Me"
Amboy Dukes - "Journey to the Center of my Mind"
The Happenings - "Go Away Little Girl"
The Lemon Pipers - "Jelly Jungle"
Sonny & Cher - "The Beat Goes On"
The Lemon Pipers - "Rice is Nice"

It's not very good except for The Who's "Magic Bus" and Janis Joplin's "Down On Me." I wonder how they got mixed in this compilation with those cheesy groups.

Some 60's bubblegum is quite interesting. Most of it sucks.

I STILL like bubblegum music. It's so....non-threatening. Also, I've noticed females like it a lot more than males.
