60 minutes/backdoor draft

So i watched 60 minutes tonight.. and i LOVE BoB DYLAN... but besides that.. i wanted to know what everyones thoughts were on the whole backdoor draft stuff that they were talking about... this whole thing is aggrivating.. and tonight, i think that they covered it really well...

what do you think?

 

This has been going on months before 60 Minutes took the time and effort to do a story on it. However, I did see this tonight.

It's a sign of what's to come, which is a national draft.

It's scary. What the world is coming to is scary. I think the next five years are really going to surprise a lot of people.

 

there's not going to be a draft people just like hype. i saw parts of it and it was people who signed up as reservists after their tour of duty but they didn't know what they were siging because the code had no information attached. My mom drug me to see bob dylan and santana in concert together when I was 11 it sucked and my jean jacket smelled like weed the next day.

 

Sorry, but I have a hunch that I have done more research on it than you have.

 

lynsey, the chance of there being another draft is highly likely. all signs point to it, it isn't hype

Obviously though, they'll need a reason to reinstate the draft.... I wonder what it might be...

 

we'll see how it plays out but I am sorry internet research unless it's journal articles does not mean shit to me. Some of your sources are very biased and twist information in a way to make everything look like a goverment conspiracy. I agree with a lot of what you say and I am very liberal, but I don't let my view points dim my sense of reality. I admit things are corrupt but the national up heave that a draft would cause would not fly.

 

I'm safe from any possible draft. I'm too old and I'm a veteran. Besides, with 3 article 15's I wasn't even allowed to re-enlist. (If I had wanted to...which I didn't)

 

see but you're saying signs, signs from biased liberal reporters, signs fromjournalist who make a living formulating and twisting congress meetings into goverment conspiracy. I don't go on signs I go on facts and even though there have been pre determiners passed there were pre-determeners for draft passed back when i was 10 but it didn't mean that the general public would ever let those pre determiner bills fall into action.

You think the draft would be the result of a vote? I've heard congressman and high ranking military officials talk of a need for a draft due to depleted forces. I'm not refering to what Bill Maher says. If the US were to invade Iran, there would be a need for far more troops than that which would be available on a volunteer basis and there would be a draft.

Um, no! Not just "liberal reporters." Many of them are conservative, though they're not establishment conservatives. Hell, I'm not even a liberal!

Look, the draft boards are being filled as I write this. Why would the draft boards be in the process of being filled if they weren't planning for a draft in the near future?

 

lol no I am def not saying it would go up for vote I am just saying that the public outrage would be such where it didn't happen and although the frame ork and admins excuses have been set as framework to invade Iran that's never going to happen either as there is no just cause r just made up cause that validates war.

Of course the population would be outraged, thats why they need a reason, such as an attack from iran... Perhaps even a dirty bomb supposedly originating form iran... I don't want to sound paranoid, and I'm not saying it would happen, but I have no doubt the gov. would do something like that without a second thought...

If something like that happened, do you think there would be nearly so much resistance to the draft?

I really think it's coming. I keep bullshitting myself thinking congress wouldn't allow it, but I get the feeling most of them are on his side.....or in his pocket atleast.
