I've yet to try 5-meo (or N,N) but from all the descriptions I've read about it it kind of sounds similiar to salvia, which I have tried. I'm not a big fan of salvia and see no use for it and will probably never do it again. So how does 5-meo compare? Is it something worth pursuing or should I go for something else? If you've tried 5-meo-dmt would you recommend smoking or insufflating?
I guess what Im really asking is if 5-meo has more substance than salvia. I feel like a salvia trip is useless, you get nothing out of it but a "wow that was intense" kind of feeling. There's no ego loss or personal introspection or any of that good stuff you expect from powerful psychedelics.
I have not tried 5-meo-dmt yet, I do have some virola resin sitting around but I need to research how to use it. In my experience, salvia is a very bizarre substance, but I usually experience large ego-loss whenever I smoke it. I haven't even had a true salvia "breakthrough" yet, so I would imagine ego loss would be quite significant though. It sets a bomb off in my head and I temporarily forget everything I know. This can bring about some pretty weird scenarios when I can't even recall what the pipe I'm holding means, and what I should be doing with it!
I have one 5-me0 dmt experience but I think it was a pretty good dose. I feel salvia is further out there in some sense that I just feel totally checked out from reality on a heavy salvia trip. No sense of identity or reality whatsoever. 5 me0 dmt feels more forceful though. I feel aware of my self in a sense, like I could feel my heartbeat increase and could sense my breath, but everything moves more quickly than salvia it kind of is like neural overload. Between breaths felt like a LONGGG time too. As far as what's gained I guess its up to you I actually had terrible paranoia following 5-me0-dmt, granted I was on other drugs at that time as well. Conversely, I've also drawn alot from some of my salvia trips. But, I think if you favor more traditional type psychedelics you may like 5-me0 dmt better. It had a extremely euphoric afterglow and i appreciated the trip it just seemed like it shocked my system physically though leading to the persisting negative mental effects the following couple of weeks. Just be careful with it...
You should smoke 5-meo-DMT, not snort it because what you get is the freebase on the "scene", which is only smokeable. Now on the difference between salvia and 5-meo-DMT, it's hard to explan if you've never done them. Even though 5-meo-DMT is very terrifying on the come up as you seem to dissolve with everything it is VERY euphoric after you come down. The 5-meo-DMT trip brings you to the same place that all the other strong psychedelics do, as it's a tryptamine. Salvia on the other hand, is something completely different. While not a 5-HT psychedelic, it is really a dissociative - but unlike all the other dissociatives salvia has an EXTREME weird fucking psychedelic aspect to it. When I breahthrough on salvia, its as if reality gets peeled in these 180 degree angles which intersect with 90 degrees angles and collapse into you and the response I get is to continually roll to not get sucked into "the angles". There's still so much more to the salvia experience that you experience at the time you're on it, but so much of it is hard to explain with words, yet even remember.
I feel theres a spectrum of intensity with salvia on the left-extreme, and 5-meo or N-dmt being on the right extreme. Everything about salvia feels wrong in my opinion, the feeling of having gravity "switch walls" so to speak is too much for me. Whereas DMT feels like I'm about to skyrocket into the air on the come-up. A much better way to start the trip out IMO
Huge difference IMHO between NN and Salvia. Can't wait to be able to really address this question. Will be pyroassaying my 5-meo-DMT after 9/20 . . .
I'm not sure what the dose was. Big mistake I let my roommate at the time dose it since it was his 5 me0 dmt and I was inexperienced with it. I took 3 hits, after the first one he instructed me slightly and after the 3rd hit which was huge he said "Holy Shit that was a big hit" and ran out the room, and he was well versed in both 5-Meo and n,n. I'm not certain but the bowl might have supposed to have been for both of us. I have read experiences that I think have gone further than I did though so I don't think I overdosed.
Salvia has ego loss etc, but it is VERY different from DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, and all psychedelics in general. Salvia is a dissociative, so you'd be better off comparing it to things like Ketamine, PCP, DXM, etc - but given that those are NMDA receptor antagonists and Salvia is a k-Opioid receptor agonist, the effects are still very different. The thing with dissociatives is that really they need a longer time-span than the 5 minutes Salvia gives you, so often people will find, that like you, they gain little/nothing from it - for a useful dissociative I'd recommend Ketamine, but using it too often comes with some risks (bladder + kidney damage mainly) But to really answer your question. Both are very different and useful in their own right. It's an Apples and Oranges thing.
I think repeated exposure to Salvia is what you need to really gain something from it. You can take a MAOI if you want to go that route and extend the duration. Having used both many times I find Salvia Infinitely more useful than Ketamine.
Well that's good to hear. Sublingual would be another good way of getting a long experience out of it, though you need substantially more (maybe an MAOI would help with that? I'm not sure)
Yah sublingual is another route, I've not tried that yet myself. I always wanted to get a tincture like back when I first started smoking salvia but I never got around to it.
are you sure you did enough? I can't imagine it tasting great but kava kava extract is pretty terrible and ive dealt with that a few times.
salvia is NOTHING like the other typical dissociatives - it's as similar to them as it is to mushrooms.
