I have used the search option (that is supposed to work - with supposed being the operative word) to look (over and over) for this thread about Shamima Begum's baby dying. I googled it and found the basic info, but can't find the thread. I'm very interested in reading it.

Where is this elusive thread that the search thingie can't find? Searching up there in that little search box for Shamima Begum's baby dying yielded ONLY results from this thread where it is mentioned.

I think that there are insane, psychopathic people everywhere, all walks of life. They blame others, but they are deranged, and will find excuses for their violence. What a sad, tragic event

I read further, and looks like US politics is what they meant. Does US politics set the tone for other countries?

 

The news says stuff like "all of New Zealand stand with their Muslim brothers and sisters today" and it seems to me like ignoring the problem. The sad thing is that it won't be all of NZ. I've met plenty of casual racists while here.. They'll say they don't condone actual killing, but I think the things they say, that they think are harmless, all contribute to some nut going over the edge, feeling like he has support.

 

there's been much discussion in the united states with regard to the problem of having a hate rich environment as well. So much so or I should say such that it perpetuates these sorts of things. People can seek attention doing it and it's tragic.

All we can do is readily condemn their behavior and show the people of America, or in this case New Zealand, that we will not stand idly by while our brothers and sisters are killed. And I think the inclusive language is helpful, although it does come too late in these circumstances.
