According tohttp://www.healthycookingrecipes.com , these are the four types of vegtarians: Type 1) Semi vegetarians - These 'vegetarians' eat all types of foods in their diet - including meat. However these individuals limit the amount of animal products they consume. I would be considered a semi vegetarian. Type 2) Lacto vegetarian - Individuals in this group are a step up from the semi vegetarians. They avoid all animal products except for dairy products in their diet. Type 3) Lacto-ovo vegetarians - This type of vegetarian diet excludes all meat except for dairy and eggs. Not too different from the previous type. Type 4) Vegans - These are the 'hard-core" vegetarians who avoid all animal products in their diet, such as meats, dairy products, and eggs. The vegan diet rely on lentils, beans, soy products etc.. Notice fish is considered a meat,...hmmm,....interesting,.... I'm a vegan, so a Type 4 vegetarian, what are you?
Type 2. I wont drink milk or eat eggs directly....but I love chocolate and all those baked goods. I hope to graduate to full on vegan one day though.
I'm a vegan. So that would be type four. Sometimes, I eat things that are made with eggs though...I don't know.
I eat dairy and eggs, but only when they're in something else. I wouldn't just eat an egg, or drink a glass of milk. I think it's just a case of me being too lazy to completely vegan.
Vegan here... "hard-core" sounds a bit harsh though --- "intensely passionate towards the cause" is probably more accurate a description also, there are ovo-vegetarians, who will eat eggs. and pescatarians who eat fish and pollo-whatsits who eat poultry.
I guess I am in catogary 3. But I don't directly eat eggs or drink milk. I would love to limit the amount of dairy produce in my diet by a considerable amount as this can make me hyper and trigger migraines. Matt ps I am looking for vegetarian friendly migraine relief. Most of the painkillers I know of contain gelatin in them which is not helpful at all.
shoulden't there be a 5th type though really? because there are those who eat only Raw (NOTHING cooked or processed, only frest fruits, veggies, fresh nuts etc.) myself i'm type 4: Vegan, 'Nuff Said
Type 3) I eat pizza rolls and crap like that sometimes. The eggs I eat are freerange from a local farmer(very nice to his chickens.) The yogurtI eat is soy. About 50% the food I eat is vegan, the rest is vegetarian. And 50% of the vegetarian food is organic.
